Radar Detector Hardwire to maplight housing...?

I messed around with the just the other day. Despite what the Internet saying the 9th gens don't work like the 8th I busted out my multimeter and tried anyways.

Long story short the green wire has power at start and goes off when u open the door. Which at first seems like it should work. But it also comes back on after you shut the car off after a couple minutes.

I ended up just wiring it to the cigarette lighter which was pretty easy to get to. The hard wire kit just had enough wire to reach it too b

I'm just buying the pastry kit to run it from the fuse box to the mirror, don't have the unit yet but have the wire,I'll have him do it when he installs my head unit this week.

Just crimped the hardline onto the pink wire behind the map light housing. It supplies steady power provided the door isn't opened activating the map lights, but once the door is closed the map lights can still be used by pushing them without cutting out the power, it works well for now.

The pink wire where? I have a blue and green wire that plugs into the map lights. Is it the harness for the sunroof?

I hooked up my REDLINE via hardwire and an ADD A CIRCUIT
Works awesome
Turns on automatically and off with the Key with the fuse I used :)

The hard wire is the way to go,I love mine,I've had it for awile now and zero probs, got one in my 7 th too.

So off the subject but the title of this thread reminded me of my honda dealership experience I had. My TPMS controller went out after 3 months of owning my car. They told me that my radar detecter waves could've knocked it out. I never laughed so hard in my life.

super easy installation. just run the radar power wire across the headliner near the front glass and down the A pillar to the fuse box. To help tuck the wiring in, pull the door rubber out, leaves tons of room to tuck wires in! I have an escort with that separate mute button, so I ended up putting it in the "loose change" compartment. Looks awesome and super stealth. Connect the radar power wire to the accessory slot of the fusebox and ground the ground on any bare metal.
