Reupholstering Seats?

Those roadwire seats looks pretty nice. I guess you have to know what you are doing pretty well to install them as you have to remove the factory seat covering and install the leather over the factory foam. Looks like they have a pretty big installer network. Wonder how much extra that runs. Heated option too!
I'm trying to determine how difficult it'd be for my dad and I to install it, as the dealership wants $1400 + tax to get it done :-(

I'll have to get some quotes from said installers to see if it's worth it doing it ourselves.

@ethlar - has taken the 8th gen seats apart to install the heating system. He might be of some help if you decide to tackle the job. I don't think its insanely difficult. Just knowing where to start taking things off and what type of retainers and attachment system is in the seats would be the hardest part I think. Sometimes when you take a plastic piece apart it just never quite goes back on right.

I appreciate it, I actually found that thread on installing the heated seats the other day, and was thinking of using it as a starting point, just as you suggested, so we're on the same page there ;-)

That makes sense about the clips. Guess I'll continue on with my research, this project definitely is not urgent for me by any means :)

$1400 is ridiculous for installation. There are people who've had their cars switched to leather seating for less than that. Materials and labor

Do you know any in or around Toronto who has had it done, who might be able to refer me to someone? :)

I didn't realize you were in toronto, so it may be more expensive around your area. @JayDieM.TraN may be of some help? Know of any leather shops around toronto by chance?

Si seats are a little more challenging to work with than the r18 models. For some reason the fabric on Si seats is attached using hog rings instead of the plastic clips in the DIY. Makes removing the fabric a pain, but in theory with the right tools and a supply of rings could make putting in leather much easier.

I am in Toronto, but I don't mind traveling to the other side of the US border (either Buffalo area or Port Huron MI area) if it means saving me some cha-ching.

Thank you guys for all of your help so far, it's greatly appreciated :)

I sent an e-mail to the dealer on Saturday, asking for a quote for upgrading it to leather, and I just received a response saying it'd be $2000 + 13% tax. No way I can afford that, so I'll keep trying to find a more affordable way to do it :-D
