I need to upgrade my rotors and pads to something decent (but nothing drastically expensive)
What do you guys recommend?
What do you NOT recommend?
 
Blank rotors will give you the best performance over slotted or drilled.

A more aggressive pad compound will give you more initial bite but the limit of how hard you can hit your brakes is limited by your tires. You should be able to lock up the wheels on the stock pads/rotors just fine. The ABS will kick in before that happens though.

I ran the Hawk HPS for a while. Not a bad pad. If you're not doing auto-x or hitting track days the OEM pads are a really decent balance of performance, noise, and dust. A more aggressive pad will give you more braking "force" but at the expense of either noise/dust or both.

I'm currently on PBR/AXXIS Ultimates and they are way better at stopping. Especially under extreme conditions and heat. However, they are an insanely dusty, dirty pad. You will need to clean your wheels constantly.
 
No I'm going to leave the calipers as they are covered by warranty.

If you are going to track your car I would consider upgrading the pads otherwise you will get a lot of brake fade when they heat up after a few laps.
The other thing that is a must do I've heard is to replace your brake fluid with something that has a higher temperature rating. If you don't you will boil the brake fluid, introducing air bubbles into the brake lines and lose your brake pressure.

For track days yes. Finding a pad that is street and track friendly is very difficult as there will be a compromise somewhere. Most guys will have separate track rotor/pad sets and swap them at the track for sessions. It's really the best way to go about it. A very aggressive track pad will not work well on the street and will simply eat through rotors. A street pad will not work well at the temps you will encounter during intense track sessions.

Switching to a high temp fluid isn't a bad idea either way. They usually perform very well under all conditions but track/high temp fluids just need to be changed out more often.
 
Sounds like you need a Honda buddy. Even then they don't get much of a discount. I think I paid $45 for a set of fronts from a guy who works there. Not bad pricing I didn't think. But then again you can get a set at autozone for like $20.

The akebonos that pepboys carry are pretty decent but then you're into the $50-100 range again.

Hawk HPS aren't a bad pad but do make a little noise. $80-ish if you can find them.
