I got hit pretty hard the other night sitting at a stop light. Taken by complete surprise, I was sitting there at the red light looking at something on my phone, next thing I know I'm 3/4 of the way thru the intersection.. I have to say, while the car looks terrible, and is a total loss. I did walk out fairly uninjured (minor bruising and soreness). It still sucks my car is gone though. Also, in case anyone is wondering, that HondaLink emergency service you can sync your phone to, it actually works and I would suggest you turn it on if you haven't. My phone went flying, I had no idea where it was for a while, but they were able to contact me, as well as contact the local EMT / authorities with my exact location.

I'm sorry to hear that. Fortunately you walked away with very minor injuries. Your civic did an excellent job. Car is replaceable but you cannot. I hope that your insurance could be helpful in this case.

Thanks guys, I am lucky the car held up so well. Good engineering from Honda. I have a little one on the way so I don't honestly know if I will end up buying another civic.. but most likely will be sticking in the Honda family, especially after this incident.
 
Wow man! They must have hit you really hard! What were they driving? What was their story? No serious injuries is always good to hear, glad you made it out.
 
^ that. I'd be interested to know too. Were they distracted....drunk etc? Glad to hear you made it out ok. Did your drivers seat break in some way? It looks destroyed?
 
They were driving a 2008 Chevy Malibu, he said he wasn't paying attention to the road and that's how he plowed into me.

I've been in bad front end and rear end collisions as a driver and passenger before. I had worse neck pain and overall pain when I was hit from behind. You didn't see it coming, where he maybe had 1 second or whatever where his body braced for impact. I think it's worse when you have no idea it's coming.
 
Happy to hear you are ok and I am glad it did what it was designed to do and prevent you from getting seriously injured.

That's a stupid excuse. He shouldn't be driving whatsoever if he can't pay attention to driving.

Wonder how fast he was going? 30-40 mph?

I see you live in VA (or at least have VA plates). I'm sure they wrote him a ton of tickets (hopefully). They are tough down there in VA (I live in MD).
