Strange Black Substance on Paint

Hey there. First post here. Trying to figure out where this black tar like substance is coming from that is always all over the car.

I know it's not an environmental thing as I've parked the car in several different places over the years at different jobs and residences and the problem always comes back.

See pictures attached as an example of what it looks like. It comes off with enough elbow grease but always comes back eventually all over the car. I'm at a loss as to what it could be. I feel like it's coming off the car from somewhere at highway speeds and is getting stuck on the paint. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!

It is likely fungus. If it’s really stuck on almost like tar, that’s what you’ve got. I’ve seen it before first hand. Do a search in google for “artillery fungus on car” and you’ll see tons of pics and articles about it.

I actually figured out what the issue was.

When hunting for the issue, I checked the windshield seals along the top and in both upper corners, the seals have begun to degrade into a tar like substance. Sticky to the touch like tar is and leaves a residue behind. Luckily Clay barring the car took it off the paint and I had it ceramic coated to protect the paint a bit.

I contacted my local Honda dealership and they're working with Honda HQ to see if this is a more widespread issue or an isolated incident. I'll try to update the post if/when I know more.
