Truhart Sport Shocks

Yes, good looking out Nix. That's actually why I haven't bit the bullet yet. My goal right now is to save up for the FlashPro. Besides the ride has gotten a little, emphasis on little softer. Still only 2-3 weeks into settling in. I only drive 5.5 miles each way to work so time is insignificant at this point. But yes would still like to know what @12CIVIC SI has to say.

I was looking at these shocks also. Thank you for the opinions that you gave. ProCivic has them as an option also but I cannot see model number on their site.

As far as I know the knuckle on the SI and Non-SI are different. I would be very careful bolting them up to the wrong car and either not being able to bolt them down properly or not being able to fit the bolts through the strut itself.

The HFP suspension is not interchangeable so I would be very careful on an aftermarket company saying it has parts that are compatible with both cars. Something is different.

@procivic :

If you guys could, and I understand this is sort of a tall order.....

Could you possibly look at a set of the truharts and compare them with a set of SI specific coil overs and a set of non-Si coil overs from say D2 or BC etc... and see if the struts are indeed the same or if there is a significant difference. I could be wrong and things are the same with the aftermarket stuff and you can run either or.

Hmmm...apparently, I will be getting some of these in the Spring.

Interesting I was just about to post that same link since I just found it half an hour ago. It's a lot of information. Some of which I don't completely comprehend. But I would imagine that the shorter shaft length should equate to a more comfortable ride. That's all I'm trying to achieve. My Sportlines are the first Eibach springs I've ever owned. I've driven on Sprint Sport, Sprint Extreme, Tein S-Techs, Neuspeed Race, and Progress Sport springs all on factory struts. Now the best setup I had was the Progress Sport springs mated to Skunk2 Sport shocks on my '90 Integra 4 door. I would say that the Eibach Sportlines are one of the harshest springs I've ever driven on. Even comparing them to my youthful cut Sprint Sport springs on blown struts. Will adding the Truhart sport shocks help make the ride somewhat more comfortable than my Sportlines on factory shocks/struts? Sorry so long. I'm happy with the ride height but would I be better off getting coilovers? Any knowledge would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I love them. have heard mixed reviews when just swapping for the truhart springs. Springs and shocks are great though, not a real aggressive spring/shock combo but does stiffen up the ride while keeping a nice ride on rougher roads not harsh at all<<IMO but my other car is set up for autocross and rides like a damn lumber wagon.

I didn't notice a HUGE difference in ride quality, better road feel.

Awesome drop too i think

Hey, I received my truhart shocks and springs a couple days ago.

Did you do the install yourself? If so how did you install the front springs to the struts because the springs they sent me are coiled in opposite directions compared to the oem springs.

Also did you reuse that plastic sleeve for the rear shocks or you leave them naked?

I just feel like truhart has REALLY bad QC because I received two front right struts, even though the boxes were labeled correctly, and two rear right springs. Also the two front springs seem to be a different length, I lined up the bottom ends and the left spring seems to be an inch shorter than the right.

I ordered from redline360 and they're taking care of my problems but the packages are shipping straight from the east coast truhart facility so I'm sure someone's really messing up there.

Another thing I noticed is that where the springs sit on the strut, if I look at both straight on (received my left strut today), it looks tilted to the left. So this kit is really questionable to me. Not too sure if I should attempt to install them to be honest. I'll post pictures in a little bit to show you guys what I'm talking about.

Thanks, Eddie.

Ps sorry for thread jacking, just trying to put out my truhart problems too lol.

What I'm dealing with. Might just reuse the eibach prokit springs I have. *sigh* the shocks itself seem legit, the shock body is another story.

Get koni shocks if you have the money, tools, and time.

Koni's require quite a bit of fab work and I'm not 100% certain that the front inserts fit the 12+ civics like they did on the prior gen. I have not definitively heard either way yet.

I would contact Chris at redshift motorsports. They not only sell both but offer all the fab/assembly work as an option. That's who I got my complete setup through and had them do all the work/assembly so I had a quick bolt in job.

Anyone have any videos on the install of the truhart shocks/struts on the 9th gen? Just curious to see how it's gunna pan out

They do fit. It's the same size for both 8&9th gens.

I was checking out the redshift Motorsports website and found this

Step 7.5 has a YouTube vid of Chris disassembling the rear shock, which is what I needed to know. The other parts are pretty straight forward. I bought a harbor freight spring compressor, kinda ghetto but it works.

I bought one from HF as well to do my springs. It does the job, but is very cumbersome in the process.

Yes it is haha. Did you put something under the hooks preventing it from scratching the spring?

Nah. It's not like anyone sees them or if they do start to rust that it would even be an issue. Rocks are going to chip away at them over time anyway.
