I have a 2014 sedan manual transmission and 1.6 liter R16A engine. I am the first owner of the vehicle and have had all the annual maintenance done so far. Also, it has been in about 50,000 kilometers, that is, 30,000 miles. One of the problems is that the vehicle takes the gas at its own will no matter what gear it is in. I press the throttle pedal a lot, it goes a little. When the car was in its early days, I pressed the throttle pedal a little, it would accelerate a lot. Now I press the throttle pedal a lot, but it accelerates slowly, I have to wait for it to come around. It makes me very hard in the city. Also, when I press the econ mode, it appears on the display, but it has no effect on the vehicle or the gas pedal. It doesn't matter if it's on or off. I think the ecm or ecu map is stuck in the economy mode. Also, if I shift up and pull my foot on the clutch quickly, the engine seems to stall. It feels like someone is squeezing its throat and the car shakes a lot. The authorized service can't find any problems. It was said that it could be the clutch assembly and I changed it but my problems still haven't been fixed. Also my old clutch assembly was like new. I gave the car to a relative for compelling reasons and I don't know exactly how he used it but he may have used it a bit aggressively. It's been a few years since then and I have these problems and they are getting worse. What should I do? Please forgive me for any spelling mistakes. I'm writing with a translation program.

Does the car rev normally when you are standing still and not in gear?

Are you getting an engine light on the dash or any other warnings?

Did you change the clutch out yourself or someone else? Have you changed the transmission fluid? Did the old fluid look bad or had metal in it?

No. There is no light or warning. I had the service check it and they say it doesn't exist.
Authorized service changed it. Transmission fluid also changed. Old clutch is still like new.

They said if the clutch was changed, the shaking would go away a little. But it's still the same. That's why I changed it and my money was a little wasted.

when you try to activate the econ mode button, do you see the change on your dash showing you're "in" or "not in" eco mode?

it should have some type of green leaf icon, or maybe it says econ on your model?

Yes, there is an econ button. The icon also works on the display. However, being off or on does not affect the throttle response and engine performance in a positive way. As I stated in the first post, it has no effect. It is as if it is stuck in eco mode.

When the vehicle is checked with the computer while stationary, it seems that there is no error or mistake. However, I have never had it checked with the computer while driving. I do not know if it can be checked while driving?

Do you have a Honda dealership near you? It would be worth taking it to their service dept and have a tech drive it with you to see what you’re experiencing with the throttle response. Was it a Honda dealer that did the clutch and looked at it before, or was it just a regular mechanic shop?

I have been going to the original Honda service since the first day. They also drove and tried it but I don't know if they connected a computer while driving. They say this car is old now, it won't accelerate anymore and suggest me to buy a new car. They either get an error code and lie to me or they can't find the problem for no reason. I almost got into a fight with them, that's why I asked you.

Since it is a computerized and sensored vehicle, I couldn't do much trial and error myself. There is no other service near me that will understand my problem. What else can I tell them or what can I do myself? Because my financial means are not enough to buy a new car.

Are there any other dealerships besides that one that are within a decent driving distance? Sounds like that dealer is an absolute joke. The car isn’t going to just become slow because they said it’s “old”. 30k miles is not “old”. They just want to sell you a new car. You need to find another Honda dealer, or a reputable mechanic shop that will actually look at your claims or problems.

If you want to try something, you could disconnect both the positive and negative lines to your battery. Once the two lines are disconnected from the battery terminals, touch the positive and negative wires together (not to the battery). Then reconnect the wires back to the battery. See if that would happen to get it out of Econ mode (if it’s truly stuck). It’s at least something you could try yourself to see if it changes anything.

Does disconnecting the battery cause the car to ask for the radio code? Because I don't think I have the code. Can I find it in the glove compartment or something?

I don't live in America. Can they still find the radio code for me? If I ask the Honda service I go to, will they tell me?
When you go to that link does it basically say that site is only for US models? Since you’re outside the US, can you just google “2014 civic radio code” and see if there is an international Honda site or info on how to obtain it? It could be on the side of the glovebox, or with paperwork inside the manual? Every dealer tends to have their own method for radio codes, so I’m not sure what your original car dealer did. Honda corporate or a dealer should be able to get it for you with your vin number though.

I don't know, I haven't tried it, maybe it will give me the code. I thought I'd ask you anyway. Thank you for taking the time to help me. I hope all your problems will be solved. I hope you have no problems. It was nice talking to you.

I'll try to do what you said. I hope I can solve it. If I solve it, I'll write to you.
