Why you should use relay harnesses with HIDs

^ these kits are wholesaled to resellers for around 9 dollars. That's for a pair of bulbs/ballasts. Ask how great the quality/quality control can be.
 
Just thought I'd give an update. My relay harness went out and fogs stopped working. I have to pull the front off to get at it and replace or remove it. Pain in the ***.

It could be just the fuse on the relay. Did you look? It's most likely the "relay" itself, but it could be as simple as a fuse. If it isn't the fuse.....

I don't know if your harness has 1 or 2 relays.... or where they are, but if you can get to the relay, you can swap just that out of the harness. You can pick up a replacement for like 8 dollars at any auto parts store.
 
I always try to make and install harnesses so that relays and fuses are accessible without bumper removal
 
I'll check the fuse when I get home I have not checked it yet. I can't get to the harness
 
Bringing an old thread back from the dead, but I figured I'd bring it up. The relay harness I purchased for my 35w kit got water on it and in my haste, i ripped everything off without checking to see if it was just the relay harness or some other stuff too. So i'll be ordering the entire kit again on DDM and this time, I'll wrap the relay harness in a plastic bag or something to keep it from getting wet again.

Would that work? Does the relay harness get hot? Don't want the plastic melting onto the relay.
 
a bag would be fine, ive tucked the relays into the crash beam before

A little overpriced but I do like the ones from retrofitsource. They have two relays so if one fails you still have one working headlight. Their latest ones come with a plastic case around the relays to help keep water out.

Thanks guys...I'll take a look at em. I have been running my HID's without a harness for 3 months, but have known I need to get one. So I will be making that purchase very soon indeed
 
Wow those ballast have really high amp draw at startup
