I need to put in brighter bulbs because my headlights are painted on the lens. So I want HIDs but I have a halogen H-1 projector, will there be adverse effects due to the fact it is not an HID projector? Also can I replace the drl/high beams with HIDs as well? I'd appreciate any help, I do not know much about HIDs or projectors. Thanks!

since you have a halogen projector chances are the light control will be better than if you just put it in the reflector

Why are the lenses of your headlights painted?

Try it and see. It surely can't be any more blinding the HIDs in a reflector.

I wanted them smoked and instead of overlays we paint them and then clear coat. It not only looks good (just my opinion) it also protects the headloghts from getting that white foggy haze over time. Also with over lays they can possible fade fast due to the sun and quality of the material used.

so the plan is to retrofit the h1 halogen projectors into the stock housing? Any idea what h1 projectors they are?

I had hid on my last car and it had reflector headlights on it. The headlight beam was well controlled. I never blinded anyone with them or had any problems. Had them for 5 years.

I have the pro design headlights now which have halogen projector in it. I want to replace with an HID bulb and am wondering if there will be an issue since it is not an HID projector housing and lens.

i thought that too till i had my roomate drive my car and follow me driving his, just cause people arent flashing you doesnt mean the glare isnt there and isnt obnoxious or dangerous. Halogen reflectors are designed to scatter light beyond the general beam pattern to illuminate reflective road signs and such, put a HID bulb in there thats 3-5 times brighter and you increase the brightness of both the intended beam pattern and the scattered lights to the point that in many cases it looks to other drivers like you have your high beams on.

this is actually part of the reason why the DOT is either in the process of or has declared that no new vehicles can be designed to use reflective hid housings, all hid applications need to be projectors now

I've gotten flashed with my projectors..... I guess they don't like them aimed up a lil' bit. I just wanted to see more of the color mod that I paid for!
