So I want to replace my windshield wiper blades for my 2012 Civic EX. What are the best all around blades? I live in the NE area so snow is coming soon.....I FRIGGGIN HOPE!!!!. Anyways, what is everyone's experience and recommendations? If you really want to know, I made the mistake of Rain-Xing my windshield and then turning on my wipers about a week after. That stuff ruins wipers.
 
I've tried countless brands over the years. I can't say that I've ever really noticed any difference between brands.
 
Get oem replacement insert. Best/cheapest option that I did on the 8th gens. I would think they didn't change the wipers on the 9th.
 
Replacing them already? Mine hasn't been replaced and it's been 5 years. Lol.
 
I used Rain-X on my windshield. A week had gone by and I turned on my wipers. Rain-X ruins wipers. Makes them very streaky and hard to see when it rains out. Theoretically there is nothing wrong with them. I just want to be able to see clearly when I turn on my wipers. :)

Try a clay bar on the glass, and soap on the blades(or new inserts).
 
switch out the rubber insert. It's way cheaper and it works better. Between my car with the stock honda "arms" and inserts and her aftermarket wiper arms the stock ones just fit and hold to the glass better.

Yeah, rain-x will sort of dissolve your wiper blades. Aquapel is a decent product if you are looking for a glass coating.

I run this stuff diluted in the winter from Einszett. It's awesome. If you run just a little bit in the summer you won't need to treat your blades either.

I personally never had a problem with using Rain-X on my windshield. After reading through other forums somebody else said the same thing but turns out Rain-X came out with a new product which combined glass cleaner and Rain-X in the same bottle. Bad idea. It created really bad streaks like crazy. Dunno why anybody would mess with the classics when it simply works. Like Coke going to new Coke and later going back to old Coke (Classic). Marketing folks I tell ya.

I always use normal glass cleaner to clean the glass, wipe dry and then use rain-x. Wait a few mins and use dry paper tower to get rid of the excess film. After a couple of wipes it works fine.
 
What about winter blades? When it is cold the stock ones are way to rigid untill the car heats a bit and it is not real cold yet. On my other cars got winter ones from the dealer, but at Honda they said they do not have them.
 
again sorry for the rez post but im looking for good blades for my girls 08 focus and im torn between the bosch and rainx ive used rainx on all my cars up to my civic (im cheap when my buddy at the dealer swaps out the blade every oil change for a whopping 13 cents of a disposal charge im not paying for nice new blades.) but when i looked at the highest rated on amazon the bosh have a higher rating than the rainx. anyone have an opinion?
 
I'd say either one would be fine....... One thing I've found that prolongs the life/function of the rubber, after using them, when I get out of the car, I'll move the blade towards the front of the car so the rubber rest on the glass the opposite direction it normally lies after it stops.
Never had that nasty skip in on direction, only reason I know about it is from being in someone else's car,and maybe somewhere earlier in my life(to long to remember) that made me think to try it the 1st time.

personally I use a liquid style wax on my windows to remove a lot of the rain, I also change my wiper inserts 2-3 times a year to make sure that I am not going to scratch my windshield and make sure everything is working the way it should (aprox $5 per insert) so far no issues, and we get a lot of ice and snow. I have never seen a big difference in other blades. The nice thing with the factory blades is that they are not an "open" design so ice doesn't build up in them...just my 2 cents

yeah i do the same thing with my blades but with the womans focus i have to get new ones rather than switch the blades
 
Rain X Latitude blades are my first choice.... The Bosch Icons being second but they don't like heat...

i just blindly pulled the trigger the other day and got the rain x. wel find out if they work soon lol
