Hi, does anyone (Honda technicians) know if the 15" steel rims from the LX will fit the EX with the disc rear breaks. I was told by my dealer that the 8th gen had no problems, but they couldn't confirm or deny if that is the case with the 9th gen. I much rather have the 15" winter rims & tires than spending extra on 16" rims & tires. Any help is much appreciated.

Chris from Canada

P.S. This is my first Honda ever and I am psyched :bananasplit:

welcome to the site

on the 8thgen you were able to fit 15" steel wheels on without any problems every model except si's as for the 9th i have yet to hear anything so far.

you might have to be the first to try and confirm.

looks like the 2012 EX/EXL have 10.2" rear discs.
looks like the 2011 ex/exl also had 10.2" rear discs.

Unless something has drastically changed on the back side of the new wheel, I would say that would work

Thanks webby. That gives me hope. I am sure they should work.

Just bought a set of winter tires at the honda dealer for my EX. I was going to buy a set of 15" winter tires but they said for the EX I had to get 16". More expensive :(

did they buy you steel rims as well, or just the tires? If you buy 15's and you have the EX, you'd have to buy a set of steel wheels to go with it.

If you just bought the tires, they'll just swap your tires on/off instead of the wheels.

I bought steel rims as well. So I have a set of 16" steel rims and michelin x-ice tires for the winter, and a set of 16" alloy rims and all-season tires for the summer. They wouldn't let me purchase 15" steel rims and tires for my EX.

well that sucks... because they totally could have put 15's on

probably, but to be honest in the end I probably would have sprung for the 16s anyways. I don't think I like the idea of rotating between different size tires and rims

I know that clearing the rotors/brakes were of some concern initially with 15"s, but it's great confirmation
