When I was at the Continental Tire race, I noticed that some of the cars had longer than stock wheel mounting bolts. Why would that be? It seems that it would slow down tire changes, and wouldn't add to the strength of the wheel mounting.

Aesthetics mainly. Many are lighter weight, too.

For the ability to change wheels and run spacers for different tracks I believe. It might take a little longer to change a wheel but it's a lot quicker than swapping wheel studs to run different offset wheels/tire combo. Also it would allow them to get the proper number of threads engaged depending on the lug nuts they wanted to run. Open ended lugs are popular for this reason also. If you've got a lot of stud sticking out you can still tighten them down all the way without topping out the nut.

Funny you mention my setup, I had NO intentions of my trunk being like that. I was quoted $40 for the whole thing. Except the equipment. My boss is the one that went into crazy mode and built it. But I'm not complaining. He did a wonderful job.

They sound pretty good for being 6.5s. Do you know if Polk makes a component set that will fit the doors/pillars?

I love the head unit. Except for one thing. If you have a USB drive plugged in, it ALWAYS defaults the source to it when you turn the car on. :mad:

Actual model is Polk db6501, which is a 6.5 component speaker with a crossover and tweeter. Great great great sound also especially amped!!
