So I took my brother, who was visiting me, to the Yuengling brewery in Pottsville, PA for a tour this morning. Here are the pics. I got the chance to meet and talk a bit with Dick Yuengling, who was hanging out front while we were leaving.

Nice. I'd love to go on tours of some actual breweries. I plan to hit up all of my favorites at some point or another.

Sat at a Gordon Biersch the last couple days. I was in Louisville looking at apartments. The place was right across the street from the hotel and had a nice outdoor seating area. We also managed to hit happy hour both days so hey, not the best beer, but $4 for a big pint? Drank their house marzen & hefeweisen. Pretty standard beers but being able to drink outside was a plus. I think they did a nice job with both. Reminded me of a slightly off Rogue Dead Guy and a stepped up better Blue Moon.

I do enjoy having a good beer outdoors, given it's not extremely hot.

Speaking of Blue Moon... I had a few this weekend at a bar (best beer they offered). If Hoegaardan could take over Blue Moon's place as the staple Belgian wit... that would be great.

Yes! Exactly! At least with blue moons proliferation you can find it if you're in a bind. I hate going into a place and seeing a ton of taps only to realize its Bud, Coors, Miller, Labatt Blue, Blue Light, but maaayyyybe Blue Moon at the end.

And how much better would it be if that beer was Hoegaardan instead of Blue Moon? As an Anheuser Busch product, there's no reason why it can't be. That's along the same lines as Goose Island. I'm starting to see their IPA pop up in a lot of places on draft. Definitely a good thing. It would be great to be able to walk into ANY bar/restaurant and have a half decent IPA or Witbier available.

Enjoying a Sleeman draft out of a can at the moment. Honey brown is my fav though from Sleeman.

I have never seen that beer: Le Freak and I know most French beers. :hmmm?: Must not be French. .?

How much are US imported beers in Canada? Which ones are even available?

Like, can you guys get Stone, Dogfish Head, Cigar City, Founders, Bell's, Oscar Blues, etc? Sierra Nevada?

None of those in Quebec, we have way too many micro breweries here already. Maybe you can get those at a specialty beer store in the English provinces. ?

Wow, I was curious about how many micro breweries there are in Quebec and counted about 112 just in this province. Obvioulsly each brewery has a selection of at least 10 to 20 beers so I figure there are about 2500 different brews to try. That'll keep a guy busy!

Damn, you guys are missing out on a lot of great beer :giggle:

A lot of the good Canadian stuff we can get here in the US. La Fin Du Monde :drooling: :drooling: :drooling:

I think there are something like 2400 breweries in the US. Most of which I'll never try or even hear of. Crazy to think about.
