It drives like.... if the WRX had a wet dream, this is what it was dreaming about. It's such a blast to drive, no not the fastest straight line thing on the road, but it's irrelevant. ;)

a slightly stiffer ride than the WRX over bumps, but not bad at all. Stock tires suck. Comfy seats, I see no issues with driving to the dragon in this car. Brakes are excellent, though as I said before, they catch quick and pretty high; heal/toe may be difficult, but left foot braking is no issue. long throw of the gear shifter but not offensive, I think I'm just used to the short throw.

Bad seating position and poor pedal placement will be instant deal breakers, the BRZ has near perfect ergonomics and driving position. I like to sit low in cars and have the wheel sit high.

The base seats are the same as normal focii have, with lumbar support as well, so they cant be too bad.

All the suspension, chassis and mounts are in the car. Its nice to be done wrenching(for now.) Now i'm just waiting for the for some nice weather, so i can actually go out and get everything dialed in.

Those go much further than power mods, just a decent tune is all the STI needs. Stiffer rear subframe bushings / inserts really help the handling as well.

My fun car will be purchased in the summer, don't know what but I want to hold onto it for much more than a year so I'm being really picky, the Fiesta ST would only last a year or so in my hands before I'm tired of it.

speaking of ST.... auto-x season is coming up quickly.

I've owned the car for almost three weeks and have only driven it twice. winter temps and slush/snow...... suck.

Immediate needs to be addressed: tint, lighter wheels, sticky tires. The ST comes with 17x7 wheels, but I'm going to 16x7 and increasing the tire height by a bit Am likely going with Bridgestone RE-11 or Dunlop Z2.

There are a lot of fun cars available too right now so you'll have your pick of what ever you want.

Right now i'm building the car for AutoX Stock Street Tire Class so i can't touch power anyways. The STi is a step back in power compared to the SHO, but is so much more fun to take around a corner. So that is why i'm focusing on.

There is no more "Stock" class. There is a "Street" which was stock last year, but it's more restrictive than before. basically 1" wheel diameter difference, offset +- 6.35 mm from stock, tires greater than 140 treadwear, one sway bar change or add. No bushing changes (except on sway bar), a big section on shocks and suspension

Street Class starts on page 69: http://scca.cdn.racersites.com/prod/assets/2014 Solo Rules Book 1 draft a reduced.pdf

Yes i know about the new confusing rules they are implementing over the next few year. Our local chapter(OVR) is going to run our own class setup this year. I just said stock because i meant that i am not doing any major suspension mods(coilovers, camber plates, etc) or getting tuned. The next class if i modded my car would be STU which would require more modding that i want to do. I want to keep it simple right now.

The Bridgestones have updated to the RE11-A. I'm trying to decide between those same tires. It looks like in a lot of the online reviews that all the EP category tires have gone to at least a 200 rating just for the new auto-x rules. The RE11-A and Dunlop Z2's included. Also the more I read people are saying that the BFG Rivals are the grippiest and fastest tire out of the three. I think im going to get the bridgestones just because they sound like the best tire for some DD and rain capabilities. Let me know what you end up going with.

I had the Z2 for a season on the WRX. ... fantastic grip, stiff sidewalls and were excellent in the rain and excellent in the rain at speeds at autox and on a drenched Dragon. (I acknowledge that the subaru AWD system likely helped).

The issue with Rivals is sizes available. The ST is bordering on rubbing issues with 225 or greater. That leaves 215 or 205.

Reasoning for going down to 16x7? I would think the taller sidewall would hurt you, no?

The tire will be about the same sidewall (16 or 17) they both will likely be 205/215mm; either ratio 45 or 50 (tire rack recommendation). I'm not concerned with the slight difference in height and will weigh slightly less. Plus the wheels I'm considering are about a pound lighter (same wheel, different size).

Is my logic flawed? Autox people on fiesta forums are mostly dropping to 16"

The Fiesta ST has a pretty low profile tire already. Going down only one inch wont muddy handling and steering response significantly. When i ran the dragon last time and autoX my race tires were 17's down from the OEM 18 that came with the MS3 and it didn't hurt response.

16" wheels are lighter also, I think the best setups will be on 16" wheels, also, better tire selections come in 16s, not the 17" size that the car comes with.

I sat in a fiesta st at the auto show, Recaros would definitely be the only choice, I found the stock seats to be comfortable, but have zero lateral support, the seats in my Outback are almost better.

Hahaha that guy is insane! Death is coming for him. We did see a Vespa gang on the Dragon this past fall. Saw a couple of the guys in full on aero crouch mode trying to go faster.
