My current Dunlop Z2 have 125 autox runs on them and maybe 3500 miles. There is still tread on the tires and the wear bar is not reached yet (kinda impressed). I have a new set ready to be mounted.

I have upcoming autox events: 8/24, 9/6, 9/13

A) Should I just run the worn tires until wear bar even though that may be in the coming weeks or down there
B) run a few more events then change tires to have fresh tires at the dragon
C) change ASAP and have new, nicely scrubbed tires at the dragon

I've pretty much decided to get some fresh 214/45R17 RE11s before the dragon. Probably the 1st week of Sept. I went witj the 215s because they're shorter (better gearing) and the tread width is the same as a 225 S04. My S04s are over a year old and have been driven and heat cycled over and over again so they might not be up to the 3 days of long backroad drives I have planned.

Have you noticed a performance drop off at events? I've run them down to cords and as long as the heat cycles aren't too stupidly high, they still perform very well. I also noticed unless you can get a REALLY good/high heat cycle onto a brand new set, that they are horrible at full tread when brand new. 3 seconds slower than scrubbed at the track on a brand new non heat cycled set.

I've been doing well and the grip is still very good, so the tires still have life. Yea, the Z2 are greasy for about 7 good cycles, then they quickly are ready to go.

Hmmm.... more pondering

What's up people? Sorry I haven't been around. Been really busy. Not sure if I can make it this year. Let me look at the calendar and budget.

Would love to see you back this year, if things are looking tight on money you can always meet us in Helen on the (was the friday drive) now saturday drive and ride up to fontana.

Good thing is that we're now the 3rd week of september so you have an extra week to plan.

I hope his tires were properly heat cycled and his air pressures checked before he went and tore up the dragon like that

Jason, we should get one of those.

Running OVER the gdamn harley idiots will now be easy.

Yeah, and the speed they ride at, catching them will still be easy.

I still remember back at 8CCD III, I was riding in Nate's STI, in front of squidmaster, following a group of 2 trikes, and 2 bikers back from Robbinsville thru Fontana to the dragon on RT28, it seemed like it took 2 hours to get from Robbinsville back to the dragon.

I had that at 6:30 am once... 2 bikers who would not get over.... I think I was on the horn from the Den to the overlook and then they decided to get over. But I was turning around...
