2013 Dealer Installed Ambient Light

Hi, I recently had the interior blue ambient lighting installed by the dealer. It's a complete disappointment, it is so dim! Compared to our tC this Civic is pretty much unnoticeable.

Is there anything I can do like replace the LED blub or something to make it actually bright?

Welcome.........
I tried looking, but to no avail. There is a mod to brighten those up......... Basically you/installer need to make the hole that the light shines though bigger, each light is incased in a plastic box and the hole in that box is too small.
May be someone can find the link on here?

I saw that as well. I guess that's the only way to go. I found the link on a different site though.

plug the wires into brighter LED strips and secure them yourselved with double sided tape or super glue. Most 12v Automotive strips should work for you.

you might have to do a bit of cutting and soldering but at least the connections have already been made for your.

This is a good idea. This is what I did in two other cars.

I had the same issue with the red kit for my Si, I drilled out the LED covers and the difference was night and day, very happy with them now.

There is no way to take the LED cover out without drilling it?

On the blue lights, there is a blue disc inserted that blocks light unlike the red kit which has blue lenses. If you take the cap off and pop the blue insert out, it should make the lights brighter but from what I understand, more cyan than deep blue.

The red kit almost required drilling out the lens because it is dark blue and blocks a bunch of the light. I bought the blue lights and took the blue inserts out because the stock blue lights have clear lenses.

Go under the drivers dash and pop out the light and you'll see what I mean. The problem with ditching the lens is they are the piece that secures the light.

They'll also always be kinda dim because they are one light rather than a bar of lights like many other aftermarket kits.
