We're always impressed at how many little things go into a car, the small details that no one would normally think about. Case in point: headrests in the new smallest Buick, the Verano.

Sure, interior designers always put all sizes of people into the seats and have them drive around to find out about comfort. It's a wide range, too. But for Regal, designers happened to have a tester that added an extra element of drama, a ponytail.

The government mandates how far a driver's or passenger's scalp must be from the headrest. But someone with a ponytail or other big hairdo can feel like their head is being pushed forward. The Verano was designed to prevent that feeling.

"We struck an amazing balance the government requirements and comfort," says Brian Schell, Verano's program engineering manager. They also made the headrest plush and squishy, not like a "brick."
