Music metadata not displaying on head unit

I drive a 2014 si without navigation. I used to have an HTC One (M7), and the data displayed properly over bluetooth whether I was playing the media through the stock media player on the phone or an app like Google play music or Spotify. Now that I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 4, it will only show the information if I am playing media that's on the phone storage through the stock media player.

Now, I thought that it was that the apps that I was using didn't support AVRCP, but that doesn't make sense since they worked on my previous phone.

Any ideas?

If your into rooting your phone you could run a custom rom. Some work and some don't. Depends on kernel. Although if you have a Verizon or att phone you can't really root it.
