Ragging on vtec...dont people have anything better to do?

Im sure we've all seen the pics making fun of Hondas vtec syste. Saying that Honda is the only brand to successful give cars turbo lag without a turbo, follows by there is no replacement for displacement. Idk just ranting anyone else have any opinions on the subject?

All I can say is the older I get the less I care what other ppl say, I had the choice to buy a Vtec or not. I chose to buy.

To understand and remember what the Vtec is for, might help you to live with the comments of the uninformed. It's to save you gas money until you need the extra power.

That's when I just laugh and tell them how ignorant they are. And also tell them how because of vtec a simple cai and exhaust can add up to 30hp unlike the 10 they got for the same money.

My buddy is a huge muscle head as am I but I have also found that imports can have just as much power when done right. N some cases Hondas have beaten big blocks. I let things go well but for some reason it bothered me today.

I personally don't care what other people think haha I know that I paid for my car with my own money that I worked hard for and I noticed around where I live a lot of the people that rag on other people's cars are usually driving their mom's mini van or a car that Daddy paid for and gave them...and then you got those people that buy their cars with money that is less than "clean"

I'm like Monk when I was buying my new car I had a choice of any car I wanted (within my university student budget) I made that choice and I'm happy with it so people can talk sh*t all they want I'll still drive my car and love every minute of it...and laugh at them that I'm only paying $188 a month (car payment) :P

I deal with comments like that almost on a daily basis and I also get a lot of, "You wasted your money buying a 9th gen. 8th gen rules!" "But it doesn't rev to 8k it's a POS". I usually laugh and just reply with facts to make them look like a bunch of tools. I seize these opportunities to hurt manhoods of tools everywhere. It's EXTREMELY satisfying.

The K24s have better potential than the K20s, imo. It's only the parts that are limited for the 9th gens.

^that, i always get "9thgens dont rev to 8k and are still slow, blah blah" I let them talk, dont have time to deal with ignorant people. It's my car, not theirs. And also I have gotten WAY more compliments on my 9th than I ever did from my 8th.

I'm a muscle head still today. I love muscle cars. That being said I came from a v6 3.5 liter charger. Its not all about power. My charger had 50 more horsepower and almost 100 more torque. My si is faster and a world more fun to drive.

A muscle car is great, I would like one as well if i would have money to spend as much as I want. The raw rumble and grunt of a 1970s big block V8 engine or is intoxicating What I do not like about them is the constant money you have to put in them for maintenance, clunky manual gearboxes if even available and honestly senseless weights they have and bad cornering, and I am not even mentioning the gas. Never drove a muscle with a smooth clutch and gearbox, not the most experienced on them though so I admit my ignorance.
Then again if i would have had more money would have still stayed in the handling cars then muscle, unless I could afford multiple cars

At the same time I bought the Si since it felt right. Like everything about it, the other cars I tested I had things to comment about There is no bad choice just buy what you like best and what makes more sense for your plans.

If i could I would have lots of cars and drive all of them as much as I can, muscle, imports or classics, but reality is you can have one or two, or at least for most of us, myself included.

Short list of cars I would like to have if money was no issue let me think Civic Si, Miata GT, WRX STI or not, GTR, f50 , 1994 Williams Renault F1, 1970 Challenger and a Shelby So that's 6 handling cars and 2 muscle as bare minimum list That would be in an ideal world. Practically I own one of the 8 I like most and I am very happy with it having financial peace of mind as well at the same time.

I do not claim to have the absolute answers, it is just how I feel about cars and what I would do if I had the choice, regardless of what anybody thinks I always liked muscle cars, I just never actually was brave enough to buy one, or rich enough.... I mention this since I do not want to start a flame war, I just like talking about cars, and obviously have my own preferences and opinions, maybe even being wrong at that

From that regard 9th Civic does compromise a bit more on displacement, biggest engine on an Si...

Took the word out of my mouth. Ideal thing is to buy the car you're happy with and it does not put you in the debtors jail. if you enjoy the car and genuinely feel good about it that's all it matters. Cars are part of life so go for the ones you love regardless of what others think. I drove and was in faster cars yet none of them really felt as right as an Si. Never been in an NSX though I omit supercars from this since those are a breed of their own and definitely not a daily driver.
Buying it with your own hard earned money and work definitely puts a different feeling on it as well.

Did you buy it because you wanted it? I would think it would bother you what they said, only if you're not happy with it yourself.
In that case get what you do want the next time around, mines not a Si and I love it.
