Hey guys.

So my friend is looking to buy a car. His current car is a 2003 RSX base and he's having so many problems with it. He was in a car accident and the front left fender is all dented and busted. The car also needs a new clutch, realignment, and a new bumper. This will probably cost him around $1.5k-2k for him to get his car fixed up. And the car's value is around ~$6k for a fair condition RSX in KBB. Now his cousin is selling a 1995 Accord Wagon with a H22A1 engine swap and he is willing to trade that for my friend's RSX and $1000. His cousin seems to fix "old school" cars for a hobby. The link to the accord wagon is posted below, but I'll post up the description as well:

I'll say I don't know enough about accord wagons to say it's a good fit or not. It's hard to put a price on a car that's highly modified like this. The same will probably happen if your friend tries to sell it down the road. It'll probably take a person who's a tuner to feel comfortable buying it later on. It's not like you can just buy 95 accord parts at honda to fix things at this point in the game. He'll need that laundry list of changes made to determine future repairs/replacements. Is your friend comfortable with all the mods, or fixing things if something breaks?

You're right about the reselling price. And it would be hard to sell and resell a car like this unless the buyer is some sort of honda enthusiast. I'm not sure if my friend is handy with fixing cars. But then again, the owner is his cousin and will probably help my friend out with parts/repair/etc.

Not a fan of it IMO and I use to own a '96 Accord (not a wagon).. If it was me I wouldn't buy it but he does have a connection and his cousin could/would help if something broke/messed up.. I'd save the money and put it towards something newer/less modified.

I guess that's true... he has a connection to get help if he needs it. I guess if he feels good about it, and wants a change? Is he worried about buying it, or?

He's just worried if it's a good deal or not and/or if he will lose money from it. If he does make this deal, his cousin will probably fix the RSX and sell it for a higher price. Lol.

Interesting. I don't think I've ever seen an Accord Wagon where I live. Doesn't look bad.

Me either. Especially with a H22 engine. It's also pretty clean. But is it worth trading a RSX and $1000 on top of that?

Yeah. My friend initially was looking for MKIV GLI's and was planning on selling his RSX. Now it's harder for him to do a private selling because the car was involved in an accident.

Ask his cousin to fix the RSX for $1000.
asking his cousin for a deal on fixing his rsx is not a bad idea at all...

new clutch, realignment, and a new bumper
if those are the problem areas to his car, why not ask him what he'd charge to fix those things?
