An initial review on the Falken ZIEX 912. Just put these on a civic sedan in a 225/40/18.

The sidewall states that this tire is made by Sumitomo in Thailand.

Car: 2009 Civic Sedan

Tire: Falken ZIEX 912 Performance All Season Tire

Size: 225/40/18

Suspension: Changing in a week, right now.... Stock. Upcoming: HFP, camber bolts, camber arms, 22mm R sway.

Alignment: Front: Camber: 0.2 L -0.3 R Toe -0.01 L&R
Rear: Camber -1.3 L -1.6 R Toe 0.13 L 0.1 R

It's listed as a performance all season so im not expecting auto-x dominating performance but we shall see how it does as the car is having a huge suspension upgrade in about a week.

So far I have put about 300 miles on the tires. A couple long highway trips and a lot of around town driving at 30-45.

My initial assessment: The tire rides very nicely. It is a little louder than other all seasons I have had but I partially attribute that to the low 40 series sidewall vs. the normal 50/55 height. You definitely feel the bumps with this tire, not harsh, but you feel them. Again low 40 series contributing factor. I have no complaints so far. The ride is comfortable, the car goes where I point it, and I get no flat spots overnight parked on a slight incline. I also feel no "tram lining" which is where the tire follows grooves in the pavement. There is a lot of construction around currently with lots of grooved sections and I have felt no pulling so far. Very promising tire.

I am mostly comparing this tire to a set of Dunlop Direzza DZ101 tires. These are not the star specs.

300 miles: Overall I like them so far as a DD tire.

I will update this first post as more miles get on the tires and let you guys know how they do in the wet and as they wear.

Nice review! However I want to just chime in on these tires since I put about 50k on a pair all highway. My experience may be different than most but I live in WI which at times can have some pretty horrible winter driving. These tires are NOT good by any means in the snow. In fact I may as well of just put on some summer tires because if there was even a slight incline, like my driveway, then I would have to get a "running start" to even think about getting into the garage. Any sudden stops in the snow.... forget about it. Even starting off at a stop light was painful and people behind me would be rather upset. Also after about 5k or so miles these tires were really loud and had a lot of vibration. Most people are happy with these tires, they are a decent tire for the price, but for anyone that sees snow I highly advise you stay away from this tire and go with the Continental DWS which to me felt like an all season tire.

Yup I bet these are horrible in snow. We run dedicated snow tires on the stock steel rims for winter. The nice thing with these "all seasons" is that they will give a little more freedom in rain and light snow before we have to swap back.

We run Firestone Winterforce (sedan) and Dunlop Graspic DS-2 (coupe) snow tires.
