TSX/Honda OEM Brake Upgrade

First post on this forum, and hi to all. I posted this on the other forum, and have received no response so far so I thought I'd start a new thread to see if anyone was interested.

The 8th gen Si can apparently upgrade to a larger OEM caliper and thicker rotor. Check out this thread: TSX Brake Swap / Upgrade - 8th Generation Honda Civic Forum. The specific parts lists is on page 3 of the thread. In summary, it's calipers and rotors from a TSX or Accord V6 Coupe manual trans. I've checked on the Hawk pads website as well as a few others, and find that pads and rotors for the 8th and 9th gen Si are generally the same.

Does anyone have any information or thoughts or experience on this brake swap for the 9th gen Si? The upgrade is said to cost around $500, which is less expensive than even the cheapest BBK I've seen. And honestly, I'm not tracking my car to the extent that I need a multi-piston caliper and larger diameter rotor.

Anyone? I'd be intereted in this as well. From looking at the pics posted on the link, the rotor/pads/calipers are a decent amount larger than the SI. Should allow more surface for heat transfer and more clamping area.

Maybe someone who works in the parts dept for honda can compare the 2012+ si rotors to the 8th gen rotors. Their may not be a large difference between the tsx and the 9th gen rotors.

My brembo upgrade was the exact same for the 8th gen. So id safely say any brake upgrade for the 8th will work for the 9th.

But since no one has done it. You need to be the pioneer. Lol. It sucks. But how do you think I felt when I bought $800 brembo calipers without knowing if they'd work.

Eventually I'm going to go to a local parts store, buy a caliper and rotor, and bolt it on to see if it fits. I'm wondering about spacing with factory wheels, though. In any case, if I'm the first one to try it out I'll post the results. I'm betting that someone else has already done it, though!

I have a TSX and a 2012 SI. The brakes are visually similar. Seem like a lot of work and money for no discernible upgrade.

I completely agree, after all of said and done you will probably spend the same amount with less performance. Just my .02
