Even if you did have the install keycode, it would not work - for the USB based map updates, the activation code is a 12 digit checksum hash of 2 things: the device ID of the navi unit and the VIN# of the car. Each USB stick sent out by mail is tailor-made to your vehicle.
@FreeSamples
Give us some details on this.
What type of car do you have, trim: LX, EX, EX-L, or EX-L NAVI
Did you have OEM NAVI initially or base stereo?
Did you purchase that CAN-BUS interface thing?
What shows up on the i-mid; what doesn't?
Did you take some pics of how you hooked it up?
Thanks!
I have had similar experience when I did my 2012 OEM NAVI installation into the 2012 LX. The problem is, because the stock LX-radio had "serial communication" lines known as DUET, which fed information to the i-mid display for audio/volume.
Specifically these are DUET TX/DUET...
For those of you that have OEM NAVI, when you put your car in reverse:
1. what shows up on the NAVI screen if anything?
2. what shows up on the iMID screen if anything?
I'm trying to figure out what your CONNECTOR B9 (BRN) pin actually is used for? It is supposed to be a "detect reverse signal"...
Has anyone ordered the 2017 Map updates for the 2012 cars?
Specifically does the "OK" screen go away and onto the map screen by itself if left untouched? Thanks.
Thanks guys. Good points.
Also, looking into it further; I've noticed that the radio (even the base radio) has B-CAN lines; Its possible that these somehow send some data on speed to the head units.
The same principle applies for the sun light sensor. There is no DIRECT connection from the...
in an LX (non-navi), how does the head unit know to adjust the volume based on speed?
I've checked the wiring on CONNECTOR A, and there is no blue vehicle speed pulse (VSP) wire on A23 for this TRIM. This only exists on the NAVI equipped cars.
Interesting...... any thoughts? Thanks.
does any know what these 3 wires do for the HFL wire harness? This came from an LX.
If someone could post a quick snapshot of their setup, it will help decipher this. It is located just up from the inside of your glove box, very easy to access and take a picture of.
yes thank you, it helped.
When I open it up to do the mod, I will compare the existing wire gauge with known sizes.
I'm looking at some website to help choose the correct wire size for a 12V DC circuit, knowing that the NAVI/AUDIO system is 10A fused.
just need to figure out AWG wire sizes are being used for 12V power/ground. I surmise that they would be pushing 10A, since the NAVI/RADIO fuse is 10A.
Its interesting that the holes for the power/ground wires on the A CONNECTOR are larger than the rest, yet for the B CONNECTOR (which powers...
If it was tied to the VIN#, then you wouldn't have eventually been able to obtain one from them that actually worked. You said they had tried a few codes, until they got it right.
Maybe like you suggest, they have some "master" codes that may work with a batch of USB sticks?
I'm just guessing at...
what are the general sizes of wires for the harnesses. Specifically CONNECTORS A, B, C, E.
If anyone has a chance, take a pic of the harness near the connectors
for example - 2012 LX/EX-NAVI:
CONNECTOR A - has white and black wires for power - 12V battery, they seem small caliber for the job...
Answering my own question:
After doing a lot more research, it appears that B1 connects to F4, and B2 connects to F5 of the Center Junction BOX 2. Now if I could only find Center Junction Box #2. There are only 2 junction boxes in this car and I believe they are near the dash fusebox.
There are some differences between LX (non-NAVI) and EX (NAVI) models when it comes to CONNECTOR B (20P).
The following F-CAN connectors are NOT present on an LX model.
F-CAN stands for: Fast Controller Area Networks, and shares information across different ECUs within the car.
F-CAN, from what...
CONNECTOR E(16) controls: B-CAN; HandsFreeLink and Auxiliary jack inputs. (It also has provisions for subwoofer and mute for the Premium based audio systems).
However, It turns out that CONNECTOR B(20P) and CONNNECTOR E(16P) seem to share alot of terminals.
If anyone has the NON-PREMIUM NAVI...
Does anyone know if this is the VSP wire used by the navigation to give you speed (BLU wire)?
It should pulse from 0 to 5V, and average of 2.5V when moving.
