2017 9thcivic Tail Of The Dragon Meet VI Attendee List

3 drives for those who make it to Northern Cali:

1) Scott Mtn. Buy the best brakes you can find. If climbing the mountain first, buy the biggest engine you can find.

2) Want a great view after a wild ride? Red Bluff, CA to the "Avenue of the Giants" via Hwy 36

They don't call'em Giants for nothin'

I've done red bluff. Epic drive. Going up near mosquito ridge this weekend.

Yeah, they call Red Bluff The Little Dragon around here. Shoot me a text if you can swing by Mesquito this Saturday (916-606-1250) Sunday there are too many cyclists...
Will be in Monterey tomorrow at the Exotics show from 3:00 - 9:00 if you want to come up halfway: http://www.exoticsoncanneryrow.com

But a Saturday Mesquito would be great.

P.S. Found some footage of Jason and I from this past June on North Carolina's 215. We had to double back since the 'other guys' got lost or something. Will upload shortly.

Got the first one uploaded of Jason and I doing the 215. This one i lead. Next one he does.
Passed the bikers at 45 seconds, noticed the "25mph" speed limit sign at the 1 min. mark... and then we're off. Major pit stop at the 10 min. mark.... driving picks up again at 15... not worth watching.

Unfortunately I dropped the SI off in Bishop and drove a truck up to Tahoe. I will be back up there mid September with my honda though.

@Bruce Bartlow - Hot vid man. Wheres the rest? I love that road. PS great job on capturing the speed and the tire noise. Wicked!

YouTube keeps uploading it (the downside part) at 360p. With that resolution, i might as well be blind. Will try again.
But you're right... Hail Rt 215 north ... the "up" side of the mountain!

The title of the downside part? "Watch Jason go, watch me suck." It's like i was chasing a white lx. Yes it was a pig but it was so dialed in.

Ok, finally got the second video posted at 1080... the embarrassing part for any boat.
(Only the first 8 - 10 minutes are a clean run worth watching)

(No regrets, i love any drive and any car i can walk away from still breathing)

Thoughts for after the video:

1) When tires like Super Sports scream this loud -- time to start listening.
2) Si was in 3rd the entire way = 75 max. (4th takes the Si to 105 - to catch up - but then you need brakes. Good ones)
3) So downhill is a different story for this car/setup. (HFP suspension already feels broken, or maybe it's that "extra weight" excuse i keep using)
4) A life lesson: Any idiot can get up the hill. Getting down the hill (alive) takes an Einstein.
5) Truth -- most accidents on hills are on the downhill side because of speed/physics. (Per Ben Collins -- The Stig -- in his book "How To Drive")
6) Perhaps suspension can be dialed in professionally, per a Louisville pig.
7) Honda's HFP set-up cannot be dialed in with ANY negative camber.
8) Whether leading or following, by the time you get to the bottom of Hwy 215 (Bogarts) you'll need a good, stiff drink.

Here's to my drinking buds...

Cheers!

Forgot how incredibly beautiful that scenery is... dang. Almost (almost!) as good as the 276.

Just buy camber arms in the rear and camber bolts in the front.....Bam! You got adjustable camber.

Don't forget I was on all seasons.....

....let that sink in

Ha... You didn't need any more than all seasons!

If there's a good side, all seasons provide a lot of information as you approach the limit. That certainly can't be said for the edgier 71R's, which can break lose without warning. Then again, they rarely break lose anyway.

SPC. You can buy the tears from Amazon under the brand name Lemforder but it's actually SPC stuff. $95 from Amazon if they still sell them.
