I thought you guys would definitely appreciate this.

Well since I have had so much down time with no car, I've some what been looking into other projects.. IE Hatch kswap etc. Decided to go bigger and better with improving the HOME! :giggle: Regardless been designing a SW aquarium+sump/filtration/reservoir to replace a portion of the wall in an L shape. The Aquarium its self will hold ~1800 gallons when filled, and the sump beneath a maximum capacity of ~ 650g as a reservoir and the entire filtration/heating system hidden beneath. On to the pictures!

WOW!!! That will be AWESOME! I'm completely jealous. I'd really love to go SW.
We currently have a 55gal FW tank...but Mr wants to go up to 120. He can say more

SW is actually quite $$$ but i currently have a brackish set up and its running my A$$$$$ on salt :rotfl: so i figured may as well go SW where i have to do less water changes. I'd recommend going SW its amazing the variety of fish compared to FW and BW. good thing is SW is cheaper for me because i will be spending 0$ on Live rock/Coral and just go out into the ocean and go pick up my own!!! :giggle: yeah its illegal so keep it between us.

:giggle:

We have like 40 baby firemouth cichlids at the moment...a baby golden severum and a baby male bristlenose pleco

...a pair or firemouths ended up breeding...sold 10 babies. sold 2 adult firemouths.. one was killed by a different female firemouth...who also killed our 5yr old female bristlenose pleco. We then got a baby Golden Severum and two baby bristlenose plecos... somehow got ick...it killed our two adult (1male 1 female) blue acaras, 1 baby pleco and like 7 baby firemouths :(

my gosh, that thing is going to be a beast. You're talking like 6k pounds up easily,.. no?

ahhh he says it'll be 1900 but hold 1800

8.35 * 1,800 = 15,030

not to mention for like..every gallon of water you have...you have to have that many pounds of live rock

Thats terrible i've never been a fan of cichlids because they remind me too much of piranhas but they are beautiful. Im Looking to do a SW with 5-15 spotted puffers see if i can get them to breed at all with some other bright coral life

1 gallon = 8.35lbs

8.35 * 1,900 = 15,865

This is true for FW, SW is a bit heavier due to salt in the water, its more close to 10lbs a gallon, now add weight of Sand + Live rocks and coral and we'll just round up some where to 20,000lbs to be safe.

this going in a basement? Sitting on a concrete slab?... or what is your plan for supporting this?

That's a lot of live rock to procure. Goodness...

:rotfl: yeah it is i figured i would do about 50-200lbs every time i went out on the boat, it would only take about 10-20 outings pending on how much coral i get every time

It will be on the foundation of the house, in a corner spaning 12' into the living room, 12' into the kitchen, I currently have a sliding glass door that connects a room to the living room. As the living room was an addition we did to the house, my plan to seal this now is with the fish tank for viewing in both the room and from kitchen/living room. Getting my Cave established where she cannot see how much i dump into my hobbies :giggle:

at least you're in an area where it's readily available.. it sells for about $15/lb or so up here... that'd bankrupt me.

its costing me about 3.5$ a gallon on salt  im about to just go to the ocean and bring home 50gallon bags home of salt water to save sheesh

hopefully i find a better supplier for the marine salt if not its bags of ocean water, 36 till im done :giggle:
