Link Favorite or Craziest Exhaust/Engine Sound videos

Pro stock engines sound so clean, they will rev 10,000+ and then drop back to an idle of 1100-1200 rpm. They are sweet close up in person. Many years ago, it was mentioned that Warren Johnson ( called the professor of pro stock ) would spend $ 400,000 on valve springs in a season. The engines go round after round with no real maintenance, other than to pull the valve covers and check the valve springs. Any dead springs are changed out, the covers are re-installed and out it goes again.

With the amount of energy they dissipate at those engine speeds, they glow red hot during a pass, despite having oilers spraying pressurized oil on them under the covers. The pushrods look more like telephone poles, they are 1/2 - 9/16" O.D. and .200 inch thick.

I've always loved this one. This must of been a neat Honda fan day, since they also had a few NSX in the paddock.

A little bit of backhistory: there was some push for one of the Japanese teams to support Sato (who now races in Indycar), after Honda was somewhat forced to kick him out of the (at the time, recently tookover by Honda) BAR F1 team. Honda eventually found a place for him at Super Aguri (demi-Honda "B team"), and he did okay for a few years, but eventually, when the team went under (at the same time Honda withdrew from F1 [the most recent time]), nobody else wanted him in F1 (he is a wee bit accident prone, though one of the strongest Japanese F1 drivers nevertheless). I think he just got signed to another Indycar team, after crashing his last vehicle trying to overtake the (to be) Indy500 winner on the last lap. Though his current team is also powered by Honda, so I guess he stayed in the family.

Also at the Honda created Twin Ring Motegi course (other major one is Suzuka).

I think, up until this year, this was also an Indycar course (the oval, not the road course). I think the oval surface mu was kinda ruined after the earthquake, so they haven't really used it too much since. May have to repave it.
