Mother Of All Whore Threads Non-VIP Edition v.1

Replaced an ignition switch on a 2005 ram 3500 today because the first one I installed was faulty ( abs, parking brake lights come on and speedo stops working over bumps, could duplicate by hitting it with my hand). Finished installing it. Confirmed it was fixed. Put the steering column shields back on and it wouldn't start. I spent more time than I want to admit to figure out I put the column shifter in reverse when I put the shields back on.
I can't say I've done that personnally (as I've not worked on Ram 3500); but, I do hate when I do things like that. Something simple that should only take a reasonable amount of time is complicated by one simple mistake that takes you 5x longer to figure out and then fix said mistake to get the job done.

honestly thought that too, theyve been beating it into us at work to be careful about it
Coworker called out today. He didn't tell me the symptoms (and I didn't ask) but definitely said he's feeling like **** and it didn't get better overnight.

Found some free fire wood today. Might have a hookup for free fire wood for a while. If so it's a game changer. Junk cuts from a saw mill. Unfortunately can't fit much in a 5 foot bed.
Free is free lol

so many cutting boards
although it appears to be pine (maybe?). You supposedly can use pine for cutting boards, but it's so soft the board would end up looking pretty rough quite fast. Free wood is a win though.

I couldn't tell you what it is. All I know is that it burns and the wood stove isn't mine so I don't need to worry about which wood to burn. Although I've read many people say it doesn't matter what it is or how wet it is but some say the opposite.

It’s more prone for creosote buildup than some other woods, but they burn and provide free heat

Yes. This is out second winter here. Landlord hasn't cleaned the chimney. I'll probably mention it in the spring/summer.

Any miles added to the car?
It's at or below 180 at the moment.

I wonder what the mileage comparison is between the new car and your shoes. I remember you saying your order a bunch of stuff so it might be close.....lol
Like night and day. My running shoes earn more miles by far.
Just in the past six months, I have ran more than 500 miles, and that's a conservative estimate.
My shoes don't last more than six months though, so I guess you could say I have new "wheels" twice a year. :vtec:

Time for more Cringe Tales with ya boi Honda-Fan!

Texas recently did away with the annual State Inspection requirement but they still require Emissions Testing for a few metropolitan counties, with mine (Dallas/Collin) being the Chief Priest. So, I go into the Kwik-Kar Oil Change place or whatever and I assume since an Emissions Test is literally a 5-minute evaluation, I'll be out in as much time. Nope! I'm there for about half-an-hour until one of their mechanics comes in with both of my air filters in his hands saying that he could replace them for 50 dollars each. He also offered to flush my brake fluid for 100 dollars -- grand total $200. I of course said no. I haven't had to take my car to a third-party mechanic before since my dad is a mechanic and I can do basic maintenance... but... are those prices normal? Let alone they had no reason to go through my car searching for stuff that they could replace. With the outgoing State Inspection you had at least some reason to offer to replace something to get a car in compliance, but with emissions... I don't think that impetus is there. Overall a very weird experience.

ANYWAY DON'T TOUCH MY CIVIC OR I'LL DRIVE BY YOUR HOUSE AND REV REAL LOUD AT 3 AM YOU'VE BEEN WARNED

Both air filters? I take it the intake filter and cabin air filter? $50 isn't too far fetched for a shop quote but you could do it for half? No clue on the brake fluid flush but prob not even needed unless you haven't done it before and you have high miles.

Cabin and engine filter are both 2 minute jobs, and the filters are like $10-15 bucks a piece.

some shops charge way too much for filter replacement labour. brake fluid generally should be flushed every 2 years but you can check the water content with test strips to see if it should be done. brake fluid flush is like an oil change, its cheap insurance that your brake components wont fail prematurly.

i assume the emission test is a simple plug in and check for readieness monitors and make sure the engine light isnt on to pass or fail. so checking filter was purley an up sell. some people simply dont check that stuff and i think they partly tried to up sell to be nice but mostly to get your money.

I went to Firestone for an alignment (I have the unlimited alignment special I got a while ago - think 2 per year max).
Anyways... I need new tires (researching that now) since they are worn... but I see on the invoice for cost of new tires they put down my cabin air filter needs replaced...

$24.99 for the filter
$22.99 for the install
-------
$47.98 total :rotfl:
