Back Window Tint Issue

Hey Brian,
I'm glad that you took some time of your busy day to create an account to post this phenomenal paragraph, Which by the way is definitely a great way to protect your tint shop reputation. All I said and posted on my last post on this forum was nothing but the truth, I wasn't satisfied with the job and all I wanted was for you guys to re-tint the back window for the Dot Matrix to be evenly, Instead it looks completely unprofessional. (Look at the pictures on this post, for a professional example.) I was treated with such bad customer service that I couldn't believe of the things you were saying. Such as "Are you being funny? Where are the Cameras, Are you filming this?" "I'll give you $50 to take you out of my head and never see you again" and trying to intimidate me by saying you had cop friends. You guys don't provide any solutions like a professional shop would so if the dot matrix looks terrible, the customer is screw.

For everyone else, Things can sound so great in writing but they can be completely different in reality, I went by the reviews of the shop online and the nice things they put on their website.

"At Tint King, customer service is priority as is the quality of the products we install. If there are, however, any problems, we stand behind all of our products and services with the Tint King Warranty:"
"Make Customer Satisfaction the number one priority, Provide the best services and service in the industry, Provide leading technology and installation methods"

(copy and paste out of their website)

Tip's : Make sure you let the tint shop know how you want the job to be completed or if it can be done.
Stay right beside your car because you have no control how they treat it if your not there.

This is a lesson learned for me and I wish every single one of you good luck.

I had to continue on with my other 11 customers waiting and I offered the $50 as a means to appease( which he took and then wrote these things to your forum) I would gladly have any of you come by my shop and see my operation do not judge us on one uniformed review. Thanks for your time and to my friends on this forum thank you for your business.

he wrote a question on the forum about his tint job prior to "taking the 50 dollars". He asked what people thought about it on the 15th. He didn't come here bashing your work after you offered him cash. In fact, I'd say you confirmed the same story he mentioned here. Cash doesn't unfortunately fix the look of his window tint. I haven't seen his car in person, so I'll not comment on the job. I can say that I've seen some bad tint jobs around the dot matrix areas, and I've seen others that look fine - on the same make/model cars. My .02

Dang! I'm going to have to call my father up on this and see what he has to say - he had a tint shop from the early 80's also.
Honestly, if I was that tint company I'd be ashamed to have my name attached to that... Luckily, they don't have a logo or anything on it.

Mr's mom bought a car from a dealership last year...a week later she managed to get a nail in her tire and was running on the spare. Went back to the dealership to sort out some more paperwork. They completely replaced her tire/wheel with one on the lot as they didn't want someone else to see her driving around a brand new car from their dealership (still with dealership plates) with a donut on. That's what I call customer service. Above and beyond.

Sooo what did your father say? I am just wondering because I am getting mine tinted soon.

He said dotmatrix is very difficult to deal with and that typically they'd cut a strip out or something...as it doesn't adhere well.

might be some way around it with some time and a heat gun?

I hate that dot matrix crap......maybe I week take a razor blade to it

Mr Fajardo I'm sorry for you're bad experience. I personally had my '12 civic tinted to 18% 2 weeks ago and it turned out amazing. Not only did I have the whole back window done over the dot matrix, but I also had the front eye brow done, which around the rear view mirror, also has dot matrix. There is not a single bubble. Therefor in my opinion, not only do the employee's and owners of Tint King have horrible customer service relations, but apparently they do not take their time and use a quality tint film.

I am far from a professional, but this forum makes me appreciate the job that the guys did on my car. Thank you Greensburg Auto Spa!

I was contemplating getting mine done after reading this originally but I'm leaning more towards going for it now....the place I have picked out has the contract for our local mazda dealer so I think they are pretty reputable

TeeEyeVany, I say go for it. I think it looks nice and I love the fact that regardless of who is behind me at night their lights do not bother me. I think as long as you find a reputable detail/tint business you should be alright. Mine turned out great and I have had no issues with it since. It also comes with a lifetime warranty.

I recently posted about possibly getting my 2012 Civic EX Coupe windows tinted. Reading all the above comments and especially the one from the owner of Tint King I am a little leery of having my windows done now. Do all the 2012 windows have the dot-matrix problem he is talking about? If so, why did he even do the job without notifying the customer that there might be a problem? Also, has anyone had windows tinted on a 2012 and not had the dot-matrix problem? I'll wait for some feedbacl from 2012 owners before I decide to get my windows done.

This is a bad example of a tint job. As you can see from reading other comments in the thread, .... they have no issues with theirs. I've had cars tinted with the same type of dot matrix with zero issues. It comes down to them not wanting to fix his tint job and offering him cash to walk away.

most tint films will not adhere properly to dot matrix. practically everyone in hawaii has tinted windows, and most of em have the same issues with the dots. the best work i've seen is by shops that use a different material around the dot matrix that does adhere to the areas between the dots and creates a sort of border around the tint.

apparently, it's 3M black vinyl: http://tnttinting.com/node/22

Our 2012 was tinted pretty much a month after we bought it and it was done by hand and it came out excellent. There is barely a gap between the edge of the window and the beginning of the tint. The entire back window was tinted with 1 solid piece. I'm sure it's no easy task but saying the OPs tint job is fine is not fine. It's pretty piss poor and not deserving of the amount he had to pay to have it done.

i wasn't saying it came out fine, and i do agree that they shop should have offered to fix it. i've seen a lot of tint jobs that had excellent adhesion around the dots, but even the best tint jobs will still show some bubbling around each dot. that's why the really anal guys go for the vinyl overlay. the pictures i posted were from BMW M3s, whose owners spent a lot more on tints than the OP.

the fact is that because of the amount of time it takes to get the film to stick properly around the dot matrix, most half-assed shops won't bother taking the extra steps required to get it to look perfect, especially if they're busy and trying to rush every job they have. does that make it fine? no, but business is business, and some shops would rather do a shitty job than take the time to do a good one.

Oh my post wasn't directed at you. It was for the tint place.

Well, after reading all the comments and talking to the owner of the tint shop I have decided to go ahead and have my windows tinted. I checked out yelp.com for this particular shop and he has excellent reviews. Keeping my fingers crossed that it turns out good. Will post some pics after I get it done.
