Not sure if you made your decision on high output halogens or HIDs, but the Philips X-treme Visions, while somewhat pricey, are pretty good at lighting up the road if you want to utilize the halogen housings for their designed purpose. I would just keep in mind that these bulbs tend to not last more than 6-9 months with everyday use (early morning and night driving), but your mileage will vary. Adding fog lights and aiming them slightly higher than the factory setting (in my case) can also help in widening the range of light on the road. I use Putco Jet Yellow fogs with stock rated Philips low beams and Philips X-treme Vision high beams and I see the road quite clearly at night, especially with the high beams on.
