Dar-Dar's 1995 Avus Blue E36 M3 Project Car

I also bought a can of POR15. I noticed some parts of the frame that needs some anti-rust coats.

Oil pan removal. Part two:

This engine support from harbor freight is pretty good.

Slowly lowering the cross member.

One of the bolts holding the pan from the transmission had the head rounded out. So I cut the head off with a dremel. I also cut a line on the other end of the bolt to unscrew it out. Lol.

I replaced the oil pump nut with the modified one. It was my first time using a safety wire. I think it is wired well. Lol. I also put thread lock on the nut just to be safe.

I scraped off the excess old gasket material.

And the new gasket is installed.

I still need to install the steering rack and power steering pump.

Improvements are always a great feeling to get accomplished, well done. I'm amazed at some of the results from the rust converter they have now, used some on a 64 bug years ago that was pretty toasty but ended up looking pretty good in the end.

It looks like I won't have time tonight to work on the car. I'll fill the engine with oil on Sunday.

These just came in today. Thermostat, aluminum thermostat housing, and the can of POR15.

I didn't realize that I had to change the thermostat when I replaced the water pump. Thats probably the reason why the car was getting weird temp readings when I was driving it after the water pump change.

Even though at work we can get away with not changing a thermostat with a water pump R&R or coolant exchange, I always try to do it on my personal vehicles but I'm no saint to that I promise you lol

It was stupid of me. It's pretty easy to flush out the system at least. I won't flush all of it since the coolant is still fresh.

Just a time consuming re-do no biggie :badger:
It should be quick the second time. :giggle: Plus, I have to install new serpentine belts.

I fixed the fuel leak issue by cutting out the fuel pipe with the pin hole. I then added a fuel hose that connected to the end of the fuel hose using a double sided barb.

I also added Rotella 5w-40.

The heat shield did not have weather stripping so I put one.

The belts were changed since the old ones were cracking.

And the thermostat and thermostat housing were changed. I didn't have to flush out the cooling system and only removed the clutch fan to install the thermostat/thermostat housing. It was easier than I thought.

I did a good amount today.

I still need to change the MTF, brake fluid, and gear oil.

I purchased a grille molding and two kidney grilles. The molding was only $26 on Rockauto.
c05fc130d96b2fabaa99c0cc20c515d1.jpg

The front end molding is banged up (not worth repairing) and the kidney grills have tabs that are falling apart.

I'll be painting the molding with matched paint from automotivetouchup.com. I also have a few cans of 2K clear coat laying around in the garage. I love painting car parts.
