FWD vs RWD vs AWD Thread. :)

I have driven both an Evo 9 and Evo 10. Once again, US versions of the Evo 9 did NOT come with SAYC. Regardless of what your opinion may be, SAYC improves the handling on a stock Evo. It has been proven time and time again. Reliability and weight issues asides, SAYC is superior. Torque control and transfer are performed in such a discreet and efficient manner, mechanical methods are unable to match.

The reason racing teams don't tend to use SAYC is because they are building higher hp cars. SAYC is heavier and not as durable as your typical LSD.

Now I get what you are saying. Many people had the exact same complaints with the newer GTRs. The way I look at it, I want a car that is able to perform to the best of its ability and with AWD, an AYC system is going to allow you to achieve that.

It sounds to me that you would be much more satisfied in a RWD vehicle.
:)

You hit the nail on the head :D

RWD it will be! Older R32/33/34 drivetrains are excellent too! I'm deeply in love with the Z34 too tho! Also the Z32! Ohhh and i love the s13 silvia K and s14 silvia K aero and s15 spec R, and 180sx type x... and like every other nissan hahahaha gti-r as well! amazing awd system! :D

RWD are better and thats that, FWD does suck and are gay but their's a reason they were made, safe, reliable in winter, and rainy weather, and cheaper to make. Performance wise they don't necessarily suck, some fwd make amazing lap times, handle really well and are just fun to drive a daily driver. IF you want the driving experience go RWD to have fun and enjoy car more.

I hate FWD but I love my Si, my first car ever and regardless of FWD, AWD, or RWD a car is car. It's a car that can represent you, the way you build it, drive it, and treat it. Doesn't matter too because we all can be enthuisists and in any car if you want to learn about a car in general, the drivetrain doesn't matter because you can learn a lot from any type of car if you want to build up a car, restore it, or just fix and maintain one. And performance wise too, doesn't matter how good of a car you have or drivetrain again, if you don't know how to drive it won't matter you can just be any person driving like a dumbass lol just flooring and tackling a corner without a clue what your doing. It's all about the feel of getting to know your car and the apexes!!! :D

Hard to drive? I've found it's quite the opposite actually, which is any AYC's purpose to begin with. Think of it as a band aid. In a front engine AWD car without a 50:50 weight distribution, understeer is a major concern. The SAYC transfers power to different wheels to "correct" the cars rotation without ever braking or decreasing engine power. The SAYC simply corrects driver error. You can be a complete noob and overdrive an Evo and it will look like you know what you're doing. AYC systems are essentially what make cars like the Evo 10 and GTR some of the best handling AWD cars on the planet.
That's just great. Why not let the car drive itself?

That is precisely why I am not a fan of AWD in performance applications. For the most part, without computers and fancy diffs, awd cars do not handle very well.

im not gonna lie rwd is good for drifting and burnouts. but fwd and awd are great for handling. and fwd is most of the time lighter than awd cars. but too me if you were told do you want to drive a Nissan 350Z through the city or a jdm type r civic through the city youd be dumb not to pick the civic. its just more fun in tight corners due to its small size. small cars are so much fun

08 z33 vs 08 type r.... i have to say i'd pick the z33 everytime... any good driver would do better with the z33....

My fwd si out handles my rwd charger I traded in for my civic. It just depends on the car.

4 more years and 1992 R32 Skylines can be legally imported to the US.

No need for the 92 when you can legally import the 1989 real soon!

How bout' an 87 R31 right now? R31 GTS with RB20 engine.
