During a cold start right after the motor turns over and fires there is a split second sound of something grinding. Car drives fine, no clutch problems, etc. Anyone have any ideas or having the same problem?

have you checked your oil level to make sure you're within the safe area recently?

Isn't this the 'cold start scraping' noise? There's a thread on that somewhere.

Oil level is fine, I check it every other day. And yes it's a scraping/grinding noise from a cold start from sitting overnight.

This isn't a problem, it happens more or less during cold temperatures. I have the same thing on my 2013 Si. Happens mostly in freezing temps.

I have had it happen to me 4 times now. The only time it does it is below freezing. I have 4000 miles on my car so it had me worried for sure.

yeah go to Honda and get them to check out the vtc actuator it should definitely be under warranty still

Check the thread @webby posted. I would call it a vibration noise, not a grinding noise. The sound is the vtec actuator vibrating because of the lack of oil pressure for a split second.
My 2014 Si does it on cold starts.

Happens almost every time with my 13 sedan. I actually heard it happen this morning on my lady's 08 CR-V, for this first time, as well.
