Looking into a new 12 si

I will do, I am planning on getting the car next week and then I want to just enjoy the car as is and then slowly work towards modding. ( though the mod bug will most likely take over and I'll be modding sooner than later)

the R32 is nice man. with the Si you will love the mpg/performance/reliability... one of the best imo
I went the SRI route from K&N great sound and power i also did the coolant bypass to the TB which is up for debate lol

i plan to do most of the mods mentioned ^^^
200whp is NICE cause the factory 170whp pulls!!!

anyway goodluck man

hey man this is off topic but i need an opinion. i want a drop but D2 coils not in the desirable price range. Are springs ok to go with?? i dont want to damage my shocks and struts. im leaning towards H&R maybe..

Springs up to a 1.5"-2" drop should not be a problem for stock equipment (varies by brand) and will run around $300. Depending on brand and pushing a 2" drop, you may want to consider camber arms/bolts and possibly struts down the line as life will be shortened. So the question is: How much of a drop do you want? If you want around 2"+ I recommend coilovers.

As far as brands, I have not made a decision and cannot recommend one over the other at this time.

That isn't off topic since I was also curious about suspension on this car. I have never really messed with a cars suspension since I have never done an autoX before and my stock susepsnion has been good enough for back road driving. While on the topic of suspension does anyone have a RSB they recommend for autoX?

I believe the consensus is a Progress bar, but they have not put out one for the 9th gen yet. However, an 8th will fit. Otherwise, people go with Eibach. Progress is a 22mm bar and Eibach is a 19mm in comparison to the stock size of 15mm.

awesome the first few mods I would do is a RSB, intake, and then follow your DIY.

That would be a good start. Just remember, you won't really reap much gains out of intake/exhaust mods until a tune with FlashPro.

I want to wait on the tune for a little while. Mostly for the sake of me trying to slowly mod the car and also I want to start out stock or close to stock when I start looking into autoX

As for the struts, has anybody thought of cutting the shaft down and having it rethreaded? This will shorten the shaft and keep it in the same range as it was and keep it from bottoming out. I don't know if this is a plausible idea or not, just something I was thinking. If it works, it could save some coin until you really feel the need to upgrade and not just when the finally go bad.

note on these lists - the msrp is usually substantially higher than what you can purchase most of these parts from one of the vendors here.

as for cold air intakes and water - you can always get something like a hydroshield

goes over the end of your intake filter to keep water out

I must say this is one of the better forum communities I have seen. Thank you for the heads up about the vendors, also that shield is pretty insane.
