Mother Of All Whore Threads Non-VIP Edition v.1

i got a 2500 ram today thats been sitting for 3 weeks now because no one wanted to touch it. 6.7 cummins with a knock noise. looks like the grid heater nut fell off in the intake and is now in the cylinder.

Afternoon fellers.. crazy busy day today.. looking at closing in on a million in sales :iorun:

Sounds like a big number. Is that for 2023 alone, this month, 12 months? Unclear what would make a good sales number. Glad I don’t have to sell for my job.

Just had my annual compensation review with my boss. He gave me another raise. This one seats me firmly into a higher tax bracket. Yuck.

You get extra for working on it? lol

So that number is sales as in collision jobs we've sent home.. so not those kinds of sales. That's just for this calendar month

Congrats on the raise!

That's what deductions are for.

Lol. Kinda true. They don’t help anymore. I hit deduction limits or I’ll get myself into an alternative minimum tax.

They’ll kick back in once I make 10x what I do, or I can live completely off cap gains and interest. Oh well

Averaging like 33k a day in collision repair work? Is that normal?

It's a little higher than average honestly. The shop I work at specializes in higher end vehicles and we have an 80,000sqft facility. So the numbers are skewed a smidge

You know how body shops operate... They gotta make $$$

If you saw how some insurance companies operate, you'd see why body shops are the way the are. Those guys are the real ones to watch out for

I wont name the company, but we are currently fighting with a big name insurance company that is advocating on putting recycled seatbelts in the truck vs putting in OEM belts for cost effectiveness..

The world we live in....where pinching pennies for the greater good of a company bottom line is valued over actual lives(and/or our enviroment).

For clarification, a lot of shops wont actually go this route, but these are the standards we are held to

Sure, I was just making a "large" statement of the current landscape of the world we live in.

Just seems like when there is some "man made disaster" like that train derailment with hazardous chemicals, oil container spills, off shore drilling accidents, blah blah blah.....it always comes down to someone skipped some step to save some cash and nothing is really done about it. Just a cash slap on the wrist and off you go to do it all over again.

And to tie it to an insurance collision claim.....insurance companies want to pay out as little as possible and fix cars with non OEM parts because its cheaper for the insurance company. Yet, the customer is the one who is paying stupid high insurance bills and has to fight it out with the insurance company to get a car fixed as close to original as possible.

Just all greed......

You should see the insurance world with medical claims and bills.

The insurance with a lizard is probably the worst out there
