Mother Of All Whore Threads Non-VIP Edition v.1

In our last house, the water tank was in the corner of the garage. Kinda sucked but at least it wasn't in some closet near the middle of the house like I have seen in some places.
In my previous house (the one I had in VA), it was in the corner of the garage, in a little alcove of sorts; semi-ideal placement for the most part. And, the corner placement in most homes, I get. But, the builder of my current house, placed the hot water heater in the center of the garage against the back wall; probably for a myriad of reasons that all link to reducing costs (less materials required than placing it in the corner, less time/labor required for he added plumbing/electrical, etc.). But, it also isn't the only house in my area that I've seen that way; and, what's worse in my opinion, is that houses in FL do not have a lot of storage space. As a result, folks tend to use a garage more for storage and not parking; so, even with that, placing a water heater right in the middle of the garage makes even less sense as it is literally right in the way (oh, and it is a gas water heater too). But, hey, the builder saved a few hundred bucks.

who doesn't want a subscription service for unlocking power or range on their electric cars

Rivian’s Connect+ software also led to a question about range and power. As of this writing, Connect+ simply includes a list of additional features for $14.99 per month ($19.99 CAD) or $149.99 per year ($199.99 CAD). Owners can sign up in the vehicle, on their phone, or online. That said, the host asked Bensaid if that architecture would end up having other unlockables for sale.

“Do you think customers would want to have a performance or range upgrade?” he responded. When the host affirmed, Bensaid simply said, “Okay, if you think so then I think we should do it.” That could mean that we may see Rivians ship to customers with some of their full power or range, or both, locked behind a paywall.

I know Tesla had a stretch where they streamlined the manufacturing by using a single battery pack and software locked out the top of it for the lower range cars. Never bothered to look deeper and see if they did anything intelligent like let the battery management system use the locked out portion to maintain battery condition longer.

Im not a fan of subscriptions for features, no way im up for paying monthly for my heated seats or carplay. I did do the 1 time payment to unlock the performance software though

I actually despise the whole 'monthly subscription for features' aspect of modern automobiles. If I've purchased a product, I expect the product to be mine to choose what I want to do with it. If it only has X features and I want Y, then I'll consider buying a higher trim model; but, having to 'rent' that feature just rubs me the wrong way. Perhaps I'm a bit too old for this new line of thought. Admittedly, I get it from a business perspective as you're trying to establish a way to sustain income in a dwindling or saturated market. But, as a consumer, if I buy a book, like a physical copy (not digital), nothing is saying I can't rip the pages out, or write in the margins of the book; nothing is saying that in order to finish each chapter, I have to pay $14.99/mos just for that extended story. Cars, to me, are the same way; once they're sold, the owner should be able to choose what they want to do with it. If they want to add a feature (like replace the stereo), that should be their decision with their property. The whole paywall, intellectual property limitations, etc. when it comes to automobile manufacturers these days just gets me in a bad mood.

Tacoma pricing has gotten so out of hand. $73k for a TRD Pro is nuts. Thought it was bad a couple of years ago when they were asking $50k. $73k is same price as a diesel truck, a base model Corvette, an M2, a decent boat.

Yikes.

Nah....no one is too old or too young or whatever. It's just plain ole F'ing greed and a way to squeeze out money out of people.

Maybe/probably some markup in there? I just built out one in the Toyota website and it topped out at $66,154 with destination with all the options(just 2) selected. MSRP is $65 something with destination charge.

$60 anything is still nuts for a mid size play toy.....not that you would use this for a "real" work truck.

Also....the trail hunter will be more expensive, lol

everything electrical just needs power at some point to turn on, aftermarket hard wire and mechanical switch all the things!

Put my winter wheels on the si yesterday. Quickly realized my rear calipers are seizing. Paint I put on them is peeling. Paint on the body has been neglected for almost 2 years now. I don't deserve to own the car anymore. I need a garage and a paved driveway.
