Mother Of All Whore Threads Non-VIP Edition v.1

I feel like we talked about skating in the past, but it’s been ages. Are you using it as a bit of cruiser, or are you more into doing street tricks etc?

We did! In the dinner thread, I think lol. I still have my old cruiser -- but it's over at my parents' house right now. I keep meaning to get it, but I just haven't. This board is going to be a street trick one, which I've never attempted to do at all. I live near a skatepark now, so I figure I'm in a good learning environment. Time to bend up all my bones the wrong way!

Santa Cruz is still my jam, they just didn't have any at the shop.

that's cool. Skating is great and frustrating at the same time as a beginner. You really have to stick with it and deal with the failed trick attempts. Once you get ollies down you'll be open to so many more tricks and things you can do.

Yeah -- I'm mentally preparing for all the slam action

I can say I’ve never heard as many grown men ***** about something as I have this week.

40% of the overhead lights in my office are dead. So, the facilities folks are coming thru and replacing them with LED fixtures and making sure all lights are functional. 2700 fixtures in total in the building I’m in.

Open the waterworks. It’s gonna be too bright…I don’t like lights over my desk…why can’t they make the windows bigger for natural light? Why are they spending money to fix the lights and not build us a new building? Why can’t I just work from home?

They offered a “light cover” which is just thin fabric with a blue sky and a couple puffy clouds. One guys said “everybody should get a light cover to clog up the system”. I asked him if he’d seen the covers yet, which he responded in the no. I took him to a different office suite that had already been updated and he noted that there really was no difference between the new LED lights and the old fluorescents, maybe new lights were a bit softer in color and that the “light covers”didn’t dim the lights, but actually acted to enhance the brightness because of the bright white and blue colors of the fabric.

He decided it wasn’t worth asking for a cover and then also made the concision the change might not be to bad after all. Do they not think to look at other suites in the building before losing their ****? We’re #4 of 6 areas, so half the building is already done - walk across the hall and see that it’s not that bad.

I messed up the griptape, so I'm going to Rec Shop tomorrow to get more
Did a few rolls on it without just to feel the setup, and it was pretty nice. I really really like the Aces, even though they need breaking in.

DANG

I kinda wanna see these light covers with clouds -- wouldn't that come off kinda like a playroom? Or am I imagining it wrong

Well, I've finally decided on a solution to this little debacle.

Over the weekend, I managed to pick up a used '99 3000GT front bumper. For those unfamiliar with the 3/S platform, the 3000GTs ran 91-99 and had 3 main generations, even though they were nearly mechanically identical throughout (there were mechanical and feature changes over the generations, but they weren't necessarily huge), these were '91-93, 94-96, 97-99 but the '99 was still unique in it's styling making it one of the most desirable amongst enthusiasts. Conversely, the Stealths ran 91-96 and had 2 main generations (with the same mechanical updates, for the most part, as the 3000GTs), 91-93 and 94-96 ('96s did have some unique changes as well, particularly the spoiler and wheels making these generally desirable amongst enthusiasts). And, if you really want to nerd out over this stuff, these were called the GTO in Japan and ran from 90-01 with similar breaks in the years (the '99 3000GT version we got here actually ran from '99 to '01 for the GTOs so it is technically more available than we give it credit for, but not by much).

Anyhow, I've been planning to put the '99 3000GT front end onto my car for years; in fact, I have pretty much all of the parts, brand new (most still in original boxes) and have had them since 2006. Unfortunately, I've not gone forward with this, mostly due to money, as in order to do it properly, I'd want it done professionally. And, while I think I did a decent job repairing/painting my Stealth bumper, I definitely do not trust myself on painting my new OEM '99 bumper that is getting increasingly difficult to obtain.

Enter a local dude (about 90mins away) parting out a '99 base due to flood damage; we worked out a deal for the bumper, brackets, and some associated bits for a very reasonable price and I would do the work to remove it (part of the reason I got a good deal on it). So, Sunday, I went to his place and removed the goodies, and got home with my prize, a used '99 bumper that I wouldn't feel too terribly bad if it didn't look perfect, would update the look of my car as I want, and give me another chance to improve my body/paint skills (they do leave a lot to be desired).

This will update the look of the car

I'm still uncertain if I'm going to run the new '99 version headlights and corner/signal lights (these are unique to that year) I have or if I'll use my Stealth headlights and corner lights. The Stealth lights will fit the bumper with one small difference at the lower outer corner where the bumper, corner light, and fender all meet (if you look in the pics I've provided, you'll see the Stealth signal lights curve up at the lower rear edge; if I use these, that will leave a small gap on the '99 bumper as it doesn't have this curve; one option is to cut that bit from my Stealth bumper and glue it into place as a gap filler).

Anyhow, that's the plan, for now. We'll see how it comes along (when I actually get time to work on things).
Almost done…
