New owners of a Civic SI

When she ( she's drivin it because its her car and she's got the feeling of shifting with it better then me right now) when she attempts to hit vtec should she say be in 4th gear and wack it to 6500? Then shift it?
Run 1st through 3rd in vtec getting on a highway ramp or something. Just run it hard for a bit.

sooo jealous you got white! and btw everyone who gets in my car asks me about 6th gear also lol!
she wanted white, every vehicle i own is white besides the delorean. here it is besides my daily driven (until the first snow flake) lightning, i also have another white lighting that is strickly for the track and does not see streets anymore, white f350 diesel, and white work trailer! ( u can see the trailer in the background) lol, my brother drives a white bmw, and his girlfriend drives a white g35 i think its called, next time we are all in the drive way ill snap a pic

i was curious guys, could someone explain to me the fuel efficiency gauge works? the screen looks like this when still, but driving shows a gauge moving side to side

we seem to be getting 25.1-25.4 the past few days? the first couple of days of ownership we were in the low 31-32's

any idea why we arent getting better mileage? not like we are beating on it, we are shifitng higher now, 3.5-4k but i dont think that would have anything to do with it, maybe if we were driving it around at 4k all day i can see it burning fuel

It's probably just driving style.......... If you were to fill it up and go for a ride on the Interstate for 50 miles and keep it in cruise control you should get close to 38/42 mpg ......... If you do, then you know your car is getting good mpg....... anything after that is coming from the way you drive.......... it doesn't take much to eat up the gallons out of cruisecontrol......... You do have a 1.8 engine, right?

This is showing how your throttle control is doing at the time(eating gas , or not eating gas). or call it instantaneous read, where the other is the cumulative mph.

naah we have the Si, its a 2.4liter i have heard the 1.8s can get 42mpg

Winter gas additives will lower the mpg some versus other times of the year. As monk said, the dots moving up and down are an approximation of your current mpg at that exact time.
