Official Computer Talk Thread

Decided to just go with a second Zen 3 computer for the lady. She’s gonna get a 5600x with 16 GB ram. I’ll port the 3080 over to her computer.

I’ll stick with the M1, get a Corsair SF750 PSU and shoehorn the 3080Ti into the M1 case. I already have low profile connectors for the lady’s 1080 FTW. That should work.
Nice :thumb: hope she's excited for it :)

She is but at the same time, she said it was too much $$$. This is almost a repeat of my current PC other than less ram, less processor and a bit more RGB because she loves that. I don’t have the heart to tell her that the graphics card alone cost more than all the other components combined.

She’s gonna be at home now using it 8-10 hours a day everyday with some new design software they’re using. It’ll be perfect although the 3080 may be over-spec for her use, but we already own it and it’s not overheating like the 1080

This showed up on FB Memories. My old PC.

The pictures are from 9 years ago when I got the desk in the pictures. PC is a few years older than that.

holy, i got my first 700+watt psu this year lol.

I'm not sure why I got a 700w PSU way back then.
My previous PC (i7 4790k / GTX 970 then GTX 1080) had an EVGA 850w PSU in it. I still have that PC under my desk (not powered on tho). I let a friend borrow the GTX 970 GPU tho.

That’s hella expensive. Got the CPU, and a couple other things. Only missing the Chromax NF-A 12x25 fans. Those come tomorrow and then the lady gets her new build.

…because I can’t leave things alone. I’m prohibited from putting it all together until Saturday. But, all I need to do is put it in the case and connect a couple of cables….
