Security Cameras (Home Setups)

I’m legit blown away by this thing. Puts my Arlo System to shame.

I've been super happy with mine. The audio and video quality is great. I can't recommend them enough.

I don't mind them asking if I have footage of anything but for them to have access to it without asking is a bit of a stretch to me.
They ask, but they have a contact email with ring to access the footage if denied by the customer. It states that in countless articles.

Ring Doorbell 3 is installed.
Blink XT2 is uninstalled and boxed up.

So ready for Law Enforcement to view my videos. Check out all the videos you want. Permission Granted!

Update: So almost 2 months later

Battery: Down to 26% remaining - I ordered a 2nd battery as a spare from Amazon for around $25 that I can swap out without having any downtime.
It looks like I'll get about 2-2.5 months of battery out of it.

Notifications/Alerts: Been working fine. No issues. I do have some alerts that are triggered from stray cats walking in my front yard but that's expected since the neighbor feeds them (don't get me started)

With that said... I'm considering a Wyze Outdoor Cam in addition to the Ring Doorbell 3. I've been seeing mixed reviews on YouTube about it those.

@stilletto - Were you getting one or just keeping your Wyze Indoor Camera?

What have you seen negative? I haven’t followed any reviews since I saw their preorder video.

* It takes 40 seconds to get a notification (so roughly 1 minute to get into the app and check the video/talk to someone at your door)
* 1 min cool down until it can start recording again
* Speakers are muffled due to water proofing

I MIGHT get a Nest Hello for the front door but I can’t access the existing doorbell wiring so I’d have to get the optional power adapter and drill through the wall. So.. Still up in the air on that one.

Same as the Arlo Pro. That delay is what annoys me. Dunno why there’s NO delay with indoor wireless cameras though? The outdoor units all require a bridge of some sort.

So I just looked at this in the wyze help forum. Seems some blame upload WiFi speeds. Wyze support says it gets pushed to amazon aws servers and then the notification gets pushed back to the phone with the video. They say it should take 5 seconds to push the 12 second clip to aws on a solid WiFi connection signal. If you have bad WiFi to the location of the cam and bad upload speeds with your isp, it’s not going to go well.

I would think you guys with your insane upload speeds would be better off that someone who gets like 3-6 megs of upload speed to your isp. It may take testing though. If it really had 40+ sec delays with good upload speeds, I wouldn’t want it either.

I just watched another review and he was getting 16 seconds for alerts, so it clearly has something to do with distance to router/upload speeds I would bet.

Hmmm.... I'll post a comment on that guys video and see if he responds.

Im going to switch out my ring doorbell for the nest hello. Im tired of the ring recording just 30 seconds when it gets motion. The nest is constantly recording.

I also ordered some random ebay outdoor camera that’s wifi and solar powered. It will be here tomorrow.

So at least he replied. I don’t know what to say then.
