My brother just got a g37x, its a nice car but the steering is a tad too heavy during low speed maneuvering (like in a parking lot). The car has also ballooned in size since the g35 first came out which makes it tough to park in the city. And, if it's got a rear view camera, why do they feel the need to have backup sensors?

I should note that I'm not hating on the car. The G37 is worlds better than the 4G TL I test drove and the more expensive MDX is terms of interior accomdations, fit finish, features, etc. I'm sorry, but the price premium on Infiniti is so worth it. Sometimes I feel like Honda/Acura is so far behind the curve.

I had my 2012 Si for 8 months and traded it in yesterday for 2010 Infiniti G37xS. My thoughts on the Si:
Positives:
  1. Loved the engine
  2. Short shifter/trans
  3. Nav/MID/Bluetooth/MPG tracker thing
  4. Great gas mileage, even for an Si
  5. Big trunk
  6. Did I mention the high revving engine
Negatives for car and dealership:
  1. Clutch made clicking noise since day one, dealer refused to fix it because Honda had no solution to the problem
  2. Annoying rattle coming from behind passenger side of dash, dealer looked at the issue, could not find the rattle, told me to live with it
  3. Very annoying announcements about buckling up the seat belt and my phone connecting to bluetooth. Got tired of hearing "the phone is connected" every time I started the car. No way to turn these alerts off
  4. Very cheap interior, I thought I could live with it but after driving a Maxima for 9 years, it was hard to get used to the Si's interior
  5. The rev hang thing was somewhat bothersome, again dealer had no fix for it. I got the new computer update but it didn't help
  6. Missed having garage door opener buttons
  7. Paint chipped very easily
In all fairness, some of the above negatives I should have caught before I bought the Si but missed them. Also, I had trouble with downsizing to a Civic, missed the little things that more premium cars come with.
But good news for current 2012 Si owners, I got $21,500 for it as a trade-in, so the value is holding up pretty good. The dealer was very happy with the trade-in and thought it would sell immediately.
I wish all of you the best, see you around.
Regards,

Hey Jay... Thanks for your candid appraisal. The G's a sweet ride, that's for sure. And interior quality, my goodness yes...a definite notch above the Maxima and way above the SI. Of course, you traded a $23,000 car for a $37,000 car (if new) so it's not exactly a fair comparison. The G37 is competition to the Acura TL, not a Honda Civic. The G was actually my #2 pick -- behind the SI -- but my mid-life crisis required the raw and unadulterated fun of the SI, and it was considerably cheaper than a mistress.

By the way, you're still invited to the Dragon, and are hereby -- with Webby's permission -- grandfathered into all 9th Civic activities. Something tells me you'll be back.

Agree. The Acura line is hard to figure... the RL is geared for the elderly. The TL used to be awesome ('06) fun, appealing to wide range of people, but now it's become so big and without real direction, imo. The TSX? I don't know. Great little car... but essentially an Acura SI with too much restraint for what I wanted. Budget wasn't a factor in my decision. I've owned Infinity products... absolutely LOVE their engine/tranny combos. Smooth. But gas mileage and repair costs were horrendous, at least for my G20 and Q45. I came away feeling that I would only own Infinity cars short term, and sell them before they got major miles. Of course, that is my opinion about many many cars these days. My friend Trent is a top rated Master mechanic at both Honda/Acura and has worked on them for 28 years. Says that Hondas are nowhere near the build quality they used to be. And if Hondas lack their prior quality, it probably goes downhill from there.

You know what? It's just a car. We love 'em... but still... 5 - 10 years from now we'll need a new one. And that's a good thing.
