Vacation Thread

Wife has got a cough and fluid in her ear. Just bought amoxicillin over the counter in Mexico for like $10 Cnd down the road. Something is seriously wrong with usa and Canada healthcare. I probably would have paid more with my benefits and universal healthcare.
Oh man. She's just getting over this now. Not sure if I mentioned. But she ended up getting tubes in her ears. Lots of antibiotics and ear drops.

Not sure if I mentioned about the Alaska Cruise I'm doing in July. Holland America is the cruise line. Think it's more older people but I'm fine with that. My wife and MIL used them for when they did a cruise last year I believe.

It's more of a trip my MIL wants to go on before she dies. Like a bucket list trip. She's doing fine health wise but I guess since she will be 75 this year she wants to go while she can.

Baltimore -> Seattle
Cruise up to Alaska and back down
Seattle -> Baltimore

So it's going to be my wife and I in a room. MIL and wife's friend together in another room. Wife's other friend and her boyfriend in a room. Wife's other friend (just mentioned) mom and sister in a room. We thought it was going to be 6 of us but the one friend invited her mom/sister..

I keep seeing dollar sign ($$$) but it's a 'once in a lifetime' trip. I'm not planning on going back to Alaska lol

Cruise (gotta have the balcony/verandah room - can't be inside whatever they call it)
* Drink & WiFi package
* Excursions
* Wife wants to do the spa one day
* Transferred from airport to hotel / hotel to cruise terminal / cruise terminal to airport
Flights
Hotel in Seattle before the cruise
Food in Seattle
Site seeing crap

:hmmm?:

I’m dying to visit Alaska AND take a Cruise but nobody else in the family wants to. We settled on Yellowstone this June.

It will be my 1st cruise... :hiding:

Yellowstone! Nice :thumbsup:

Wife wants to do Glacier National Park & Banff National Park. Then Yellowstone and another National Park. :think:

Think maybe end of August we might go out to San Fran/San Diego to watch the Orioles (baseball) play. They are in San Fran for 3 days and San Diego 3 days.

If you’re in Seattle for more than just a few minutes to transfer from airport to cruise ship, hit me up. I could see if I can swing out that way for a beer

I know we are there July 18th/19th and the ship leaves the 20th.
But I need to check with the wife to see the game plan as she has the itinerary :giggle:

What route is it taking? we see a lot of cruises go by our house in the summer.

Wife and I booked a quick trip to Punta Cana. May 5-12. Staying at an all inclusive adults only place. Using the wife’s Delta points for our flights.

Nice! That's usually around the time we go for our anniversary.

5-12-12 is our anniversary.

Oooooooh -- Alaska :eek:

For whatever reason, I find sea travel nerve-wracking, but I am 100% okay taking intercontinental flights over huge oceans instead. Do you feel the boat rocking back and forth?

is there anime on the boats
can I stay in the cabin watching it if so

I've never been on a cruise... I'll be doing everything I can to make sure I don't get sick. lol

I heard you are supposed to take "sea sick"/motion sickness preventative medicine like a week or so previous to the actual trip/event? is that true?

so you're not leaving your room?
i like the idea of being far out at sea on a ship but the idea of a floating hotel with a lot of people and crowds turns me off.

At least we have a balcony room :giggle:

Well.... I'm just going along. My MIL really wanted to go before she is unable to go/passes away so my wife planned the trip. I feel like it's a one and done trip (to Alaska) lol I doubt I'd go back there.

Booty's gonna come back from this cruise wanting to buy a boat :rolleyes:

Smart people don't buy boats... they have friends that own boats! :smart:
Also even though I grew up by/on the water... I never had the desire to get a boat. Never really grew up fishing either even though I could walk .1 of a mile and fish lol
