Hey guys does anyone know the clearance between the factory Si wheel (17x7 +45) and the strut?
I'm curious to know if a wheel with a +53 offset would have any issues. it is 21mm closer to the strut that stock set up.

Thanks

+55 is the offset on the accord wheels. Some people have run those. I don't know if they used spacers or not. I don't think the wheel will look very good in such a high offset. It may fit but will look very sunken.

Some wheels you are looking at in particular?
Perhaps find something very similar in a better size. Or are you getting them for such a good price?

How wide are the wheels with +53 offset? 8.5?

17x8 +53 it's the forged bbs sti wheels have the potential for a good deal but I have to have the 56.1 bore machined to 64.1 but I plan on using stock tires

I have a feeling messing with that bore is going to be a huge pain in the ***. I remember seeing it addressed on here somewhere before and the general agreement was that this was a horrible idea. To each there own but deffinatly would advice against this.

I don't see an issue, I suppose if you were trying to do this in your backyard with a hone and a drill... not good. Mounting them in a lathe and taking a light cut out isn't going to be an issue at all. More time would be spent measuring rather than cutting.

Yeah guys it was my thread from a little while ago sorry for bringing it back. I'm just having mixed feeling about forged wheels whether to go with subi bbs wheels and modify or go with evo 9 MR bbs wheels which require a little ring. I just don't know what machine shops would charge on average :/

I agree its totally doable but i would think that the money spent on the wheels then the money spend to make the bore bigger, deffinatly would want to get it done aat a good shop that knows exactly what they are doing and has presicion messure tools, you could end up getting wheels that you wouldnt have to modify to make work on your car. just make sure if you are going to put these wheels on your car make sure they are the wheels you actually want on your car and not something your getting because they seem like a good deal.

OF the two i would go with the evo wheels. Hub centric rings are cheap and easy to get ahold of

Yeah that is true it's just the rpf1 wheels I would like are about double the price I could pick up subi bbs for. But it all depends on how much a shop will charge for for reboring because either way I would have to buy lug nuts and get the tires removed, mounted and balanced. Speaking of lug nuts I believe I need acorn seat but how would I know If the thread pattern will match? Is it 12x1.5 for our Hondas?

In the shop I work in, that would be anywhere between 45 minutes and an hour tops to do all 4. Aluminum cuts very easily... once one rim is done ( set up tooling, etc ), the others would be minutes each to cut. Call around and see what they charge per hour. Yes, 12 x 1.5 mm pitch is the lug size.

Yeah I think I will call before I buy anything I just have to see if it's worth it.

Also it would only have to be bored about 10mm into the wheel correct? I haven't measured the length center bore yet.
