I have spent half the day tearing apart half of the interior of my car. Just to run a single freaking wire. Contemplating replacing rear speakers at this point while it is all torn apart. Although, that may entail rethinking my harness and wiring for the head unit. Argh! Very frustrating day to say the least.

DIY's will include:

Head Unit Replacement
Backup Camera - TaoTronics License Plate style
-this will go into the head unit
AV input to head unit from a cell phone
-still working the logistics out on this one

I haven't looked closely at the 2012 coupe, but couldn't you have just run it under the plastic trim to the left of your feet? Run it down the side.... but I realize you'd have to pull the lower plastic panel. It should be able to come off enough to run it down at the floor..up over the seat area, and into the trunk?

I ran my amp wire this way on my coupe. Not sure how deep you went towards the windshield to run the wire though. Excited to see the Diys. Are you going to be using the IMID for the backup camera or the new head unit?

There is a dedicated input on the head unit I bought.

Not sure what you mean by how deep towards the windshield.

There is a bundle of wires that go all the way back to all the rear lights that I followed and zip tied the camera wire to. I am a bit OCD with stuff like this. Why improvise when there is already a solution?

and those wires all run along the ceiling where the curtain airbags deploy?

No, the airbag is in the C pillar, which has to come out before the rear deck can. The rear deck has to come out to remove the side paneling. The side paneling is what covers the bundle of wires.

I will post a few pics later when I get home.

I am following this bundle of wires all the way back. It essentially starts at the fuses under the steering wheel.

The two circles are covered by the C pillar/airbag covers. One is for the rear deck panel. The other is the side panel.

This following spot circled is a part of the side paneling covered by the rear deck panel. It is not circled, but you can see a green clip on the right that cannot be pried out while the C pillar is in the way.

All of that was required to follow the wire as seen below which continues from the first picture.

All of the panels are interlocking or cover clips that would be nearly impossible to remove without potentially breaking something.

Looks like I can add replacing the rear speakers and sub to the DIY list. Still trying to find a sub that will fit dimension and spec wise, though. I have decided to stick with the stock amp for the time being, but I at least wanted to swap out the speakers while I have it torn apart.

Thanks for pics! ....and explanation. Going to be more work than I had first thought to run that camera wire.

I hear you. Kind of why I am going to replace the speakers at this point. Driving me nuts trying to find a sub that is compatible with the factory amp! I think I found a Kicker that will work. Goes as low as 50 watts RMS, 8", 4 ohm, single voice coil, 3 7/8" mounting depth, 7" wide mounting cutout. The mounting cutout is what worries me though as it is a bit smaller than the factory cutout. Not a concern as long as the mounting holes lineup, though.

I have never replaced a sub before. I assume mounting hole patterns are standard for each size???
