I also didn't fall all day. At the very end after asking to go down a steep and more advanced slope, I slid to the ground (controlled) twice. The snow was in a sunny area and was getting funny...not to mentioned at that point I was getting exhausted and my legs weren't doing what I was telling them to. LOL
Like Jeff, I never fell during my first ice skating adventure (and didn't cling to the wall) I do have excellent balance though from 20+ yrs of martial arts

Went skiing today with my boys at Stoneham, Quebec City. It was great. Sunny, mild temperature and not many people at all.

Okay, I know a bunch of you either live out west or have been for vacations. Ever since I was little, my dream vacation has been to go skiing out West. Finally, I am in the beginning stages of planning a vacation for the 13/14 season and I need some recommendations on where to go. I've driven through Colorado/Utah/Wyoming for work, but never went skiing/snowboarding at any of the resorts. I've stayed at a Holiday Inn Express in Park City which was VERY nice and VERY close to The Canyons. Anyone been there, thoughts?
Thoughts to consider:
I ski AND snowboard
I'm a level 9 on skis and probably a level 7 on a snowboard
We don't get good deep snow on the east coast, I'd like to go somewhere that I can get in the deep stuff
I'd like to stay somewhere there's a Holiday Inn nearby so I can use my reward points
Airports close-by are a must, I was thinking of Park City because it's close to SLC.

What about Canada? You could fly to Calgary and rent a car to drive to Banff (45 minutes away). There are 3 different mountains to try out: Lake Louise, Sunshine Village (known for its powder) and Mt. Norquay (smaller more challenging). Banff has wonderful sites to visit and hot springs. Lake Louise is a fabulous skiing resort. I've never been to Colorado though so can't compare.

I figured someone had been to Park City before since it's so popular. I'm kind of basing my trip around the Holiday Inn Express in Park City right now which is why I had asked about The Canyons. The Canyons are about 3 miles from the hotel while Snowbird is ~35 miles. I suppose though, if I'm going to be there for 4-5 days, I could split it up and do half at The Canyons and half at Snowbird/Alta. 35 miles isn't that bad to commute.
I'm not opposed to Canada whatsoever, I'll check out those places you recommended, thank you. I'm going into this blindly, which is why I am asking for everyone's opinion. I have a passport and flights wouldn't be an issue to Canada coming from Maine, just maybe a bit more expensive. I'd absolutely love to go to Whistler BC.
