I still don't get the hood line across the top like the latest bmw vehicles. It would be almost completely hidden if you ran it down another 5 inches or so and had a small slit coming off the grill to the headlights. Instead of you have a massive line cutting across the whole hood. It just seems like such bad design on it. Maybe it's just me

Yeah I don't understand that either.. What is the point of it?

I fit in the ST recaros just fine, I prefer snug seats.

As improved as the WRX is I'm not confident in the durability of the stock clutch or transmission. For a new car, Id take the ST, can't justify 26-27k for a WRX.

I like snug... but I also like to be comfortable. They were not comfortable to me.

Ofc theres plenty of ways to easily turn the WRX into a +300hp car just by modifying government issued standards and tuning it. Just dont know it can justify 27k. But the digital speedo plus info display keeps me feeling the same love as the civic.

Yes, oddly I sat in a Focus ST at SEMA and didn't like the passenger seat, but like the driver's seat when I sat in the one at the Phila auto show.

Still, the more I think about it, there are less and less new cars that I like, including the new WRX / STI, 27K + is hard to justify for a car that will have the same issues both of mine had (mainly clutch), I'm probably going to look for an older car to buy outright and hopefully keep longer this time, too bad the G35 used more oil than I would like.

Im not really in the subie scene but is there a known clutch problem or premature cluth replacement for the subies?

WRX clutches, especially from 8-14 aren't very strong, but the clutch fork is made out of cheap stamped steel that wears out and makes the pedal have crap feel.

The STI has a much better clutch and a forged steel clutch fork with a better pivot design.

@k757 had to have the clutch replaced in his WRX, just from auto x runs.

The original clutch was bad off the lot. I botched about it long enough that they finally replaced it. The replacement was ultra smooth. .....for a while. It got all notchy again. Traded in the WRX with 45k miles and don't miss that clutch an instant. 3 years of ownership and I still couldn't get a smooth shift from 1 to 2 to 3.

That's sad. Is that the only major flaw?
well...... Couldn't turn the car either (on tight auto-x courses). Actually, it had a design flaw: the power steering fluid would get super heated/boil (yes BOIL!) with a lot of steering action (again an auto-x flaw). This was fixed with replacing it with synthetic.

Would you recommend the wrx just for a daily?

Well, certainly not a problem with the Fiesta ST or 2015 WRX...electric steering.

Sadly I'm being turned off from the BRZ for many of the same transmission and clutch issues that seem to be popping up. 90s Subarus are tanks, but from 2006 ish and on the overall robustness of their cars really seemed to decline.
