Kraftwerks supercharger

Hi guys, new to the system still and was wondering if anyone would know why a 8th gen civic would make more power than a 9th gen on the kraftwerks supercharger? Just wondering because of the stock power difference, but when boosted, both power bands overpower one another. Some inside information would be nice to know. Thanks!

340 hp / 215 lb-ft Torque = 8th gen
330hp / 240lbs-ft Torque = 9th gen

I'd rather have the 240 tq any day versus the 10hp difference.

The head on the k24 is most likely the factor. It only has vtec on the intake side & not on the exhaust cam where the 8th gen has it on both.

that's true, but the only reason i'm leaning more towards the 8th gen is because i'm going to order Super Valve Motion cams. I've done my research, well to my perspective, i've fallen in love with the svm cams. They got good profile cams for the kraftwerks kit and i would like to make it into a build. On the other hand, the 9th gen for svm cams, they are still currently in the process of making them, but i bet it will make insane power. I'm just indecisive right now of which way to go. k24=more torque k20=more power

Do you own an 8th gen or 9th gen civic? If you own an 8th gen, do some research on the cams and issues people had getting them. Some waited months and months and had their sponsorship banned on multiple boards for not shipping orders.

You have to look at the torque curve to determine which motor is making more power. HP is a formula, not a measurement. HP is determine by (TQ x RPM)/5252.

With that formula in mind you can see there are really only 2 ways to increase HP. Increasing TQ or increasing RPM.

So you can see that the 8th gen makes more HP because it revs 1000 RPM higher. Theoretically as long as the TQ didn't drop too much if you revved the k24 up to 8k rpm you would get somewhere in the neighborhood of 360-380 hp (just a guess). Or if you revved the k20 1k rpm less your looking at around 300 hp. So the k24 is clearly the stronger motor, by a lot. The k2p might edge it out if you keep them both at redline constantly, but you don't unless you're drag racing. But these cars aren't built with drag racing in mind. Around a track, all other things being equal, the k24 would win, do to being able to put out more HP everywhere else in the rev range.
