Summer Tires

16,000 miles on my SI. All four measuring evenly at about 5/32, but three are cupping slightly. Tires have been rotated every 5k miles.

Now experiencing unbearable road noise. Anyone else have this experience? Is it common? I'll be looking for replacements at 20k if not sooner.

Cupping
Cups or scalloped dips appearing around the edge of the tread on one side or the other, almost always indicate worn (sometimes bent) suspension parts. Adjustment of wheel alignment alone will seldom cure the problem. Any worn component that connects the wheel to the car (ball joint, wheel bearing, shock absorber, springs, bushings, etc.) can cause this condition. Worn components should be replaced with new ones. The worn tire should be balanced and possibly moved to a different location on the car. Occasionally, wheels that are out of balance will wear like this, but wheel imbalance usually shows up as bald spots between the outside edges and center of the tread.

Disregard the cupping comment. Looks more like over inflation, at least on one tire measuring slightly less than 5/32.

I'm more surprised about the wear, not beating on the car at all, and the annoying....ruh, ruh, ruh noise. Car tracks straight, no pulls, etc.

Suspension is stock.

New tires on the car are junk for wear. I think they have agreements with every tire company to put junk tires on the car to save money. I've never had one come even remotely close to their tread life warranty (without abusing the car).

A sound like that could indicate a failing wheel bearing

Sorry, I should have been more clear. Not looking to go with summer tires again. I'm looking for a good 35k+ A/S. Will do an alignment at install. It's not a bearing issue and there is nothing wrong with the stock suspension after the dealer inspection.

We've been pretty pleased with my wifes Falken Ziex912. They've been pretty decent to drive year round. We usually swap to dedicated snow tires but these did surprisingly well in light snow and cold conditions. I don't know how much life we will get out of them total but its looking like 30k ish.

Decided to go with Goodyear Eagle Sport A/S. No charge for labor or alignment from dealer, which is cool. Install next Wednesday.
