The brake overhaul is going to be on hold. I didn't realize that the clutch and brake share the same reservoir. I ordered a stainless steel clutch line and work on the clutch and the brakes all together.

I flushed the differential fluid.

As well as the transmission fluid.

Since the transmission drain plugs do not have washers, I put some thread sealant to prevent leaks.

I also changed the valve stems on all the wheels.

Hate it too. But 2012 and 2014 means both vehicles have it. Makes me jealous for no TPMS. But, I don't have to do emissions testing.

U should send a link of this thread to the previous owners to show them how to treat a car. That car has to be runnin tits.

Would have been a good time to clean up under there. Looked like there was some fluid/grunge build up in the areas you were working on.

I definitely did. I sprayed the area with degreaser. :giggle:

Trunk Rust Control

So I inspected the trunk area and there is rust everywhere! I removed the battery, spare tire, all the padding and saw a pretty good amount of corrosion. Luckily, the rust hasn't eaten through. I had to do something about preventing any further spread.

I started with a lot of cleaning and degreasing to see what I'm dealing with.

Whoopsie. There's a lot of rust underneath the battery!

I sprayed the rusty areas with OSPHO, a rust converter than changes the chemical property of corroded metal.

After spraying and a few hours of waiting, the rust changed color.

Here is another spot in the trunk that was sprayed.

I then sanded the treated areas with a steel brush. I vacuumed and cleaned the trunk space to be prepped for applying POR15.

And this is what the trunk looks like after coating the treated rusty surfaces with POR15. I also coated the strut mount areas since I noticed some surface rust.

I'm not done yet! I'll give this a few days to dry and I'll spray 3M rubber coating to cover up the evidence! :giggle:

I forgot to mention, I'll reinforce the battery area. I'll add a thick aluminum plate as a battery tray and have it riveted to the trunk. The 3M coating will also be a very good insulation and will deaden outside vibration, especially from the exhaust.

I installed the battery reinforcement plate and riveted it. I also coated it with POR15.

It's A Fast Pig!
Nice job man. Is the 3m stuff similar to bed liner? Or is it removable and can be peeled off later?
