You'd be surprised. There was a thread on the s2000 forums where a guy kept talking about how he always drove around at 7-8k rpm in any gear. I can't find it now.

Like he talked about taking long trips on the highway cruising for hours at that rpm and was talking about drone and all kinds of crap. He didn't understand why there were so many gears since he could run on the highway in 3rd below redline. He believed you didn't need to ever shift to a higher gear unless you hit redline. He claimed to have owned the car for a long time and always drove that way. Wtf
