So I decided to try and pinpoint the noise today at lunch. I have it down to either the cam gear/front valve cover area or oil pump. Yeah, two very different areas. The noise is bugging me so much that I'm considering trading the car in for a new si sedan if I can get a good deal. If not I'll be making an appointment to get it checked as it still has power train warranty . Not sure why the cam gears would make noise. I've never taken apart one of these engines. I've talked to a Honda tech I know from another forum and he's never heard this noise.

It's embarrassing driving this thing In town . All I can hear is this stupid whine.

Is it really that bad? Wow?

So ur saying it’s coming from the passenger side of the engine?

Yes? Hard to say .It's hard to pinpoint with out a stethoscope, even then it's hard to say where it's coming from .

Now that's I think about it, I saw a 9th gen coupe a few weeks ago and don't remember hearing this noise as it drove by a few times .

95% sure I'm going to be trading my car in for a 2018 si .unfortunately this means I won't have a fix for this noise. But judging by the fact that I can't find this issue on the internet it wont be a big deal.

I haven't taken it into any dealer for the noise yet . If I can't get my payments close to what they are now for a 5 year finance compared to a 4 year lease on a new one I'll bring it in to get checked .If I can the .it's traded. I'm kind of disappointed in the car over all. It was an impulse buy because I needed a vehicle ASAP and I've had my eye on a 9th gen si for a year. If I had more time to drive other cars I'd probably not buy this one .

The seats are uncomfortable .the stereo isnt good at all ( not sure if there's a problem with it. I find the speakers aren't as loud as the right front. ) The engine noise is driving me crazy. I can't stand bird **** being on the car because it's financed . It's much slower than I thought . ( I drove an 8th gen about 5 or 6 years ago and I remember it being quicker, well aware it's a different engine but still ) .

Wife just signed a lease on a 2018 LX hatch. I drove it and was impressed, felt quick .did some searching and found a race between a9th gen si and a what Im assuming was an LX hatchback. The LX is actually quicker .

I'm not sure what to do .as a licensed tech I hate the idea of taking my car to the dealer. I may trade it in for A 2019 si but on my way home I got thinking about the stuff I can't do to a leased car.

That's true .I just feel it's not worth it for some reason . I'm having a real hard time deciding. I've been waiting for my local dealer to get 2019 si in stock and the more I wait the more I think about it. There are some things I hate about the 9th gen and something's I like. I hate the noise the engine makes , hate the driver's seat .I feel like a really fat guy owned it before me and made an indent in the seat bottom and messed up the lumbar support.
Noticed the lights keep dimming and getting bright when they're on at night with the AC compressor turning on and off .not sure what that's about, is the alternator I installed to try and solve the engine noise faulty?
The stereo is awful, I feel like the only speaker that is loud is the passenger front, and it doesn't produce enough bass. Probably because it has no 6x9s and the factory sub us a joke .

I bought tein street basis z coil overs for it a few months ago that I've been trying to sell but it's tough because I live in a less populated area with very few 2014-2015 si around.

If I lease a 2019 i can get the payments close to my finance on my 2015 for one less year .Will it have some of the same issue as the 2015 like the stereo? Maybe.

Finished waxing it today. Really didn't do a great job because when you spend that much time that close to your paint you notice all the things wrong with it and realize you're juts going to trade it In in a month .
